Hello, I’m just looking for a little advice, I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I had my last COVID jab in may 2020 so I’m due my booster. I’m really not sure what to do now pregnant. I’m worried something will happen to the baby if I have the booster, can anyone give me any advice x

It might be better posting this in the NCT group on here - lots of pregnant ladies on there, a lot of us are still desperately trying so can’t give you advice, so sorry! Hope you get some answers x

Thank you for posting hun, I'm having a similar dilemma, albeit I'm much earlier on at 5 weeks. It's so hard to know what to do for the best, I'd be really interested in anyone else's experiences.

I'm 15 weeks and getting my booster next week. I've researched it and can't find any evidence that it will hurt the baby. But our risk of dying from COVID while pregnant is greater. So better safe than sorry.

I got my booster just before Thanksgiving at 20 weeks. I’m in the US and had the Pfizer vaccine. I had my first two jabs shortly before egg collection in May, and then had a successful FET in mid July. For the first two doses, I had no side effects except for a bit of arm soreness. However, after my booster I did feel a bit unwell, but it didn’t last long. Got the shot on a Wednesday afternoon. The next morning I felt a bit tired, but not too bad. By late afternoon I had a mild headache, felt achy all over and a little weak (no fever though). I drank LOTS of water and rested. Friday morning I felt much better. I’m 24w today, and baby girl is doing great. I know it’s a tough decision after all we’ve been through to get pregnant. For me, potentially getting covid was much scarier than getting the vaccine. My pregnancy is high risk due to my age (41 next month) and having hyperthyroid. I spoke to my OB and the high risk specialist, both recommended I get the booster.

Hi. There was a similar post a few weeks ago. Might be worth searching for that. Have a look at rcog.org.uk/coronavirus-pre...

Personally I had the booster in my first trimester without any obvious side effects ( was feeling pretty rubbish anyway ). I am very glad I did as was recently identified as a close contact but fortunately tested negative.

Congratulations on your pregnancy x

Hi Tilly,A recent study found out that the risk of a pregnant woman dying increases 33-fold of she gets covid. I know you're vaccinated so you have some level of protection, but May 2020 is a long time ago, and covid is surging everywhere. I wouldn't risk it, I'd get my booster.

Stay safe and well!

Scaremongering. There’s no proven risk to the baby- I had mine at 14 weeks as far as I know everything is fine. It’s much better to be protected and have the vaccine than avoid it. The risks to you as the mother who is pregnant if you got covid is much worse than any risk of having the vaccine. And there is recent data to back this up

I had my jabs between IVF rounds and just before my successful FET with no side effects. I've booked the very first slot for my booster that I could get (I'll be 21 weeks) as there is so much evidence of the danger to mothers and babies of getting covid in the third trimester and now with Omicron... They think the protective effects begin to wear off after less than six months and I want the best protection when the risks are highest. Plus I'd like to be able to see my family at Christmas and some have weakened immune systems so not just about my health.

If it helps I had both vaccines while pregnant and I had a healthy little boy early November. I was anxious but knowing he’s got protection makes me happy 😃

Hi there, have you looked at the RCOG website? I personally had the vaccines right before IVF and had a BFP.

Also I got my booster just over a week ago at 31 weeks and had no side effects. My baby is just as active- can still feel really strong movements. I have a midwife’s appointment next week so I can update you if that will help.
