First of all, congratulations! That's an amazing result, you must be over the moon. I haven't done PGS (we've never had enough of a choice for it to be worth it 😆) so I can't say if ICSI is standard practice when screening embryos. I'm sure someone else can share their insights on that. But I wouldn't worry too much about ICSI and autism - ICSI is used pretty commonly these days xx
To be honest this is my first IVF so I don’t know what’s a good number and isn’t. That’s comforting to know about icsi and thank you and good luck to you xx
I can’t speak for PGS as I’ve not had it but we’ve had ICSI and I’m pregnant now with twins from our second cycle (fourth transfer). We were given lots of statistics and caveats and all that but the risk of autism I believe is very low. It is very commonly used today so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Xx
Oh that’s good to know and a relief as well. Congratulations with your twins you must be over the moon 💕
If you don’t mind me asking what were the statistics and caveats you were given for icsi? Is it regarding the success rate? Xx
ICSI is super common so I wouldn't worry about it. When they plan to do PGS they want as many embryos as possible. They could have just left them to IVF and see how many fertilised naturally but with ICSI you are giving them a bit more of a chance in some cases. They will have also assessed the sperm quality on the day and maybe they thought it needed a bit of a boost. I guess there are loads of reasons, I would just celebrate your incredible egg haul and number of embryos and trust your clinic, its the most important part of this process.
Heaps of luck sounds like you are in great shape for a successful outcome x
