My wife and I ( as 2 women) have has reciprocal IVF. Using my wife’s eggs fertilised with a donor they transferred 1 day 5 blastocyst ( grade B) on the 9th November ( 11 days ago). So I did a HPT 8DPT - negative and another today 11DPT - solid negative.
We have the beta blood test on Monday morning which will be 13DPT.
Can I still have hope or is it game over?

Hi lovely, sometimes you could have late implantation which means the HCG wouldn’t be strong enough to show yet, but in all honesty those scenarios don’t tend to be the best. My clinic has always done beta tests at day 9 and ask us to do a home test then too, so by then it’s usually an accurate result. Did you use an FRER test? They are the most sensitive…. Xx
Thank you. I used a clear blue on day 8 and then afterwards day 11 another brand which was supposedly sensitive. I am taking it as a negative and we have 1 embryo frozen to try again, although it was a grade c. Fingers crossed we eventually get our pregnancy. None of us have fertility problems so I thought this would be easier than it has been. No one prepared us for this emotional rollercoaster and we never realised how bloody hard and complex the whole process is.
I felt exactly the same after our first, so unprepared for the emotion. My strategy was to plan ahead for the next one straight away. Get some ideas in place and crack on. I guess head in the sand really..I really hope it changes for you lovelies!
If it helps, it’s rare for it to work first time, even with no issues (we were the same fertility wise)… xxx
Hi there, we did our third fresh cycle in Jul/Aug, as before we were told to test 10dp5dt- we used the test given to us by the clinic (past experience taught me I’m better not testing early). It was negative but I hadn’t bled, so was told to keep taking the meds & re-test 13dp. To our utter amazement it was positive! We are now nearly 18 weeks. When we got the BFN on day 10 I wrote such a sad email to the clinic & had no hope that things would change, on this occasion we were blessed however. I have read late implantation, or people having naturally low beta, can lead to delayed positives. I really hope this gives you a boost & that now is your time. If not be kind to yourself & remember you are strong & your time will come. I’m thinking of you & sending love xxx
Wow! Congratulations. No one prepares you for how emotionally hard this is. I didn’t expect it to be like this, I thought I was calm cool and collected haha! But I’m sooooo not!
My period was due yesterday but my cycles are never spot on… sometimes can go to 32 days so I guess I have blood test tomorrow and we just wait and see.
I’m not keeping my hopes up as I know how it looks for us after 2 negatives but it’s nice to hear stories like yours and dreams do actually come true.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I’ll update one we get the results back 🤞🏻
It probably depends on the sensitivity of the test you used -first response early response or the ones that are ‘5 days early’ etc would likely have picked it up by now if there was anything happening. I would try with one of those if you havent already and if they are still showing negative I would prepare that the bloods would likely show that too I’m afraid 😢 wishing you and your wife a happy outcome soon xx
Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but my clinic said 11dt was the date to safely test. I got a BFN on the first transfer at this time and it was taken as negative. On my second transfer on this day I got a BFP and the line was very dark.
