Possible OHSS After Positive HPT

Hi everyone,

After some advice, I got a BFP 9 Days post 2 day fresh transfer, since I have got very bad bloating (I look 6 months pregnant and I am now only 11dp2dt) I have put on 2kg in the last 2-3 days, and my upper tummy area is sore.

My clinic knows about this but isn't too concerned as I am still passing urine frequently of a clear colour.

My question is, has anyone experienced late onset OHSS from pregnancy, how long did it continue to worsen and when should I be concerned? I am extremely uncomfortable ecspecially at night, and I often feel nauseous, but keeping fluids down and able to eat (small amounts)

Thanks for any and all replies

Hello

Congrats on your positive pregnancy test!

I haven't experienced this myself but I have read about it and if you do fall pregnant this can make the OHSS symptoms worse (and happen later). I'm sure some other ladies on here can give you much better advice as they will have experienced it, but when you are trying to sleep you could try and prop yourself up on pillows?? Definitely keep speaking to your doctors. I hope it resolves quickly for you!!!

xx

I had late onset OHSS after my BFP two years ago. Got advised to eat loads of protein (chicken, eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yoghurt...), add some extra salt to all meals and drink at least 3 litres of water. And kept moving and relaxed with my legs up to aid circulation. It went down within a few days. Good luck and a big congrats!

Can i ask were you extremely bloated aswell? I look really big, ands its causing me trouble with eating decent sized meals aswell

Yes I was fairly big. Could only fit into my loose joggers. If it gets too extreme, go in and get checked, you might need a drip. It can be dangerous if you have severe OHSS. Don’t want to scare you, just saying no hesitation to bother the medical professionals if something doesn’t seem right. Hang in there!

Make sure you get those proteins in at every meal/snack, however small your portion. And drink drink drink and eat plenty of salt, it makes a huge difference! For once crisps are good for you ;-) Thinking of you

Congratulations on your pregnancy! ❤️ I developed late onset OHSS in March and was admitted to hospital. My clinic took my bloods and found that the fluids had shifted from my blood vessels into my abdominal cavity, I was considered moderate and had to be on a 24 hour drip. I passed urine fine throughout and had to push my clinic at first to see me. I think it was because I was feeling slightly breathless (because I was so bloated) that they agreed to see me.

My ovaries were so big they were touching!! The term they call it is kissing! 😂 Long story short, it sorted itself out and I’m currently 15 + 4.. Its not been an easy pregnancy and unfortunately I have gone from one complication to another (none related to OHSS).. If your concerned, push for bloods to be taken.

Good luck and wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months xxxx

Thankyou so much for your reply, I think I have felt a little better today, so fingers crossed it eases up. Still very bloated, but feeling slightly better. I am eating better at night, and drinking plenty of fluids so fingers crossed I don't bloat up much bigger or I will be ringing the clinic again! I'm sorry to hear you've been through a battle, I hope it all straightens out and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Such an intense journey!

Well I'm ringing my clinic today, I managed to get the worst stomach pain last night and throw up (didn't actually throw anything up though) only happened the once, but I have woken to have gained another 500g and feeling poorly still.

Hopefully they can at least do bloods cause I am concerned I am dehydrated, or soon will be.

Thanks for all your support in this.

Jenjen84 how long into your pregnancy did the ohss symptoms amd bloat go away?
