Did she do a stimulation? Does she have OHSS? I developed it after my transfer!
I've been pretty bloated throughout this whole process and had a bad stomach (unusual for me) early after the BFP, but I also absolutely ballooned. I'm pretty big for 17 weeks now and I haven't changed much size-wise since around 9 weeks. We had to tell close family around 10 weeks as I was quite obvious and i got a lot of comments about how I'd got my dates wrong, I was having twins (nope and nope) how I was bigger than X person who's 8 months... It could be bloating with your surrogate and tbh I didn't find much helped - maybe more good fibre like apples and pears, muesli etc - but I asked my consultant why I was so big and if something was wrong and was told some of it's genetic, sometimes to do with how you're carrying (carrying high makes the bump stick out), where the placenta's forming (if it's at the front it can make the bump stick out)... So it could also be these things. It's pretty uncomfortable though so hopefully she can find something to ease it a bit.
Hi Topcat. I believe the treatment has been all natural? Can't be OHSS then. If she is using any progesterone, then that could be the cause. She may have developed an ovarian cyst that has decided to grow with the pregnancy. If you're worried, then ask her to have a scan to check all is well. Good luck! Diane
