We are doing our second round of IVF after 2 early losses and a failed transfer last time. It’s taken a lot to get to this stage. We had 11 eggs retrieved yesterday, 7 were mature and 3 fertilised. Bit disappointed!
The doctor has emailed to say that he wants to do a day 3 transfer which is suprising.. I’ve never even considered a day 3 transfer and now have a lot of reading to do! Any thoughts or opinions? 😵💫

Hi Char. When I first started out in the fertility game, we only ever did Day 3 transfers, as we didn't have the expertise to grow the embryos on to Day 5. We still got 28-30% success rate, so they can work. Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that being back inside you is the place to be. Diane
Thank you Diane, it makes a lot of sense and I’m coming round to the idea. Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it 😊 xxx
Hiya, sorry for your losses and your failed round. A round 3 transfer is quite common if you don't have many embryos.. its not worth waiting to see which is best to transfer but instead put them back as they are better off inside you than in a Petri-dish. I have done a number of day 3 transfers and every time I did I searched on here and found LOADS of success stories! Remember .. its not about the quality of the embryos - just the number you have. You are transferring the same ones you would be transferring on day 5! Also remember as Diane says - there never used to even be day 5 transfers and loads of people got pregnant via IVF. Good luck x
Thank you for taking time to reply Daisy, really appreciate it and it does make sense. We’re excited about our transfer and hoping for the best with the other two 🤞🏼✨ xxx
Day 3 is better in some circumstances as although the lab tries to mimic the womb it can’t be an exact match to the womb environment as it’s not the womb. Some day 3 embryos won’t survive to day 5 in a lab but will survive and become successful pregnancies in the womb, so if this is recommended then have faith it’s the right plan of action for your embryos as they may make it if transferred day 3. It’s basically giving them a better chance xx
This is just the pep talk I needed this morning, thank you! Just about to leave for transfer, thank you again for your words, they’ve given me a boost ❤️ xxx
