Hi. Did they not ring you to say how many eggs were still viable? They don't risk taking your eggs to day 5 without them being of good quality and normally a minimum of 3 or 4. We had 8 taken to blastocyst and 6 made it all the way.
No, they just said if they didn't contact is then the best thing would be to go for 5 day. I had 14 out of 18 eggs fertilise so am praying that at least one of them will last until Monday.
Wow! That's great about your blastocysts. That would be amazing! I would love to have 1 put back in and 1 to freeze. It's just a waiting game though!
Oh you'll be absolutely fine then. That's loads of eggs xx we started of with 12, and lost half. I had my egg transfer on the 15th September x I'm sure you will have a few to freeze x
I felt exactly the same when going for mine. I had 13 eggs, 4 fertilised. I was convinced I'd get there and they wouldn't have lasted to day 5, but they did, all of them. It can be a tense wait on the day so try have fun, take some pics and laugh lots.
I had 3 taken to day 5 because they all looked good at day 3 so couldn't tell which may be the best. The extra days allowed them to see that one of them wasn't quite as well as the other two. I think it's good to have them develop for the extra couple of days as they can really tell at that stage which is developing the best and you will get the best quality transferred then. They won't ring you on day 4 because they allow the embryos to grow at that point without disturbing them. It's a critical stage in their development so they don't look at them again until day 5. Your numbers are good, so you should have quite a few survive. Best of luck with the transfer and subsequent 2ww!
Thank you all so much for your replies. I'm trying to just relax and not worry too much as there is nothing I can do but that is easier said than done!
Roll on tomorrow so that we can be one step further down the line!
Our clinic only did blastocyst transfer which I quite liked as it took away one decision/part of he uncertainty. But it didn't stop me worrying that there would be none left to transfer! In the end we had 8 eggs fertilise normally and ended up with 4 blastocysts. We were incredibly fortunate that our first round worked and we have 3 in the freezer.
I know there are different schools on thought on this but I always felt that transferring a blastocyst was best as not only has it survived 5 days out of the body but the embryologist also has a better idea of quality at that stage.
Good luck with transfer x
Hey getting through day3 is fab, your little ones are onto blastos have faith xx
