How long until your appointment with a fertility specialist after a referral has been made via GP
Any one self funded via NHS ?
I was referred from my GP to a fertility specialist in birmingham womens and my first appointment took 12 weeks going on 13 weeks. Im not waiting on my 2nd appointment and its going on 11 MONTHS!! So make sure when u attend ur first appointment you ask them how to book and ensure your second appointment in a time suited for you.
Hi Patient- Supposed to be up to 18 weeks! Keep in touch with the clinic and say you are willing to accept a cancellation, which could push you up the list a bit - hopefully. Diane
Not sure what stage your at however we paid £150 for fertility tests only had to wait 3 weeks. scan and amh test for me and sperm analysis for my partner. It also included a consultation with the consultant. We then booked in for our ivf (we paid private) and had our cycle 6 weeks later we are so lucky it worked on our first cycle and and are nearly 2 months pregnant. I know people who are still waiting on the NHS and due to backlog with covid and it has been close to 3 years.
I know its not within everyone's means and I know we are very lucky to have been able to self fund however if you can I would advise you to self fund especially if you have diminished ovarian reserve etc as you don't know how long you would have to wait otherwise. Due to low amh levels we weren't prepared to wait as we may have been in an even worse situation when our time came than we were at the time of our tests.
Lots of baby dust to you and the best of luck on your journey xx
Thank you and congratulations x
Update, got the referral letter December managed to get a appointment in January
