Silly question! I'm starting my meriofert injections tomorrow. I haven't and will not be drinking alcohol during my treatment but is it ok for my husband to drink alcohol? TIA xx

IVF & Alcohol advice
Hiya, I think it's normally totally fine honestly! Unless you are concerned that his sperm might be low quality / quantity, but as I understand it sperm develop in 3 month cycles so abstaining from alcohol for 3 months before cycle is best.
But lots of people drink (moderately) and still have good sperm! My husband stopped drinking and his next sperm sample did look a little better, but he was also taking vitamins etc. So I can't really say if it made much difference on its own, but it was nice that he was making an effort!
Best of luck to you on your cycle xx
Hi.Agree with the above. The only thing I would add, and it is only my opinion, but it might be best for your husband to avoid pubs until transfer just in case he contracts Covid. Wishing you well for your cycle x
It’s fine for you both. Just still well within the govt drinking guidelines of number of units. Try not to stress about the odd bit xx
Hi not for everyone but worth a try, my partner has just turned to alcohol free beer. He couldn't rate it higher, not much difference in taste, smell etc and he loves his beer, it was more of a habit and feel of having a beer.
Same as above! Throughout the cycles my husband drank alcohol free. I think it's fine for him to have a drink but as we had male factor problems and it was the reason we were doing ivf he didn't want to risk anything x
My husband avoided alcohol all together as we have MFI. I listed to a live chat with Fertility nutritionist Melanie Brown who said alcohol in moderation and good quality alcohol, preferably organic to avoid further oxidative stress. If you can't get organic potentially take charcoal tablets to absorb the toxins.
Thanks for everyone's advice xx
Is he going to be providing sperm for ivf? I mean sperm takes 3 months to get to the right point. I wish I’d known this before when we were trying - so it says that a little alcohol wouldn’t matter but I’d probably err on the side of caution until it’s done.
