Does anybody have a rough idea of the cost of progesterone. It’s for a modified natural fet cycle. Clinic has just phoned back with a rough schedule and said I would be given the prescription and will pay for it there and then.
TIA
So many questions 🙆🏼♀️Xx

It depends if you’re using pessaries or injections. Pessaries are a lot cheaper - in my case they worked out as about £60-£70 per FET cycle . Lubion injections are more expensive, they cost roughly £180 per cycle I think….? Depends on the dose you’ve been prescribed, of course….. Good luck 🤞 x
Gosh it really does add up, your post has prompted me to see how much my fet has actually costed and I think my clinic is cheap. No one sat down and figured out how much meds would cost me I didn’t even have the slightest clue. Defo preferred it when it was free.
I’ve never had a funded round 🥴 but we’ve been given a figure of around £1200-£1300. There’s constantly hidden costs it’s one of the most stressful parts 😩xx
That seems really expensive for pessaries. Are you in utrogestan? I haven't bought any in about 18 months but I got mine from a supermarket pharmacy and it was only around £6 per box.
Hi, check with your local tesco or asda pharmacy, I asked my consultant for private prescription and got them cheaper at tesco pharmacy. Sis this twice and save a lot of money. Worth checking! Hope all goes well xx
I phoned Tesco and Asda today for prices. Tesco said they didn’t stock them. Asda said they had a box in and it was a box of 15 pessaries for £12 without vat but they only had the one box and if I needed more it depends if the supplier had them. I don’t feel confident enough with that so I think I will get them from our clinic 😩
Yes you want to be certain don’t you xxWhen are you starting your next cycle and transfer? I’ve got my follow up tomorrow, I don’t know what the clinic will say about tests but I’ve had two failed transfers (1 fresh and 1 frozen) so I want to start looking at why. Xx
Am sorry it hasn’t worked “yet” 🥰. Waiting on af to start first week in November and should be all over by end of November 🥴 not excited tbh I am literally bracing myself for failure. I know that sounds bad but that’s how I cope Theres the tiniest bit of hope 🤞🏼 You won’t have to do all the tests again the only one I opted for was a baseline scan and glad I did!!! Will you bring doing a fresh or frozen cycle? When you hoping to start?xx
It’s such a rollercoaster of a journey isn’t it. Wishing you the best luck for November 🥰I am probably going to transfer end of November with a frozen embryo. I should know more tomorrow. Xx
I ask my Gp to prescribe my pesssries, and they don't seem to mind at all. So I just pay for the prescription for the whole cycle. But I buy the lubion from asda! About £60 per box, but take 2 a day so £300 just for 5 boxes to last til positive pregnancy test plus an extra week or so. If positive, I'll need to get some more!!! Wish I wasn't also on lubion!!!
I checked with Asda yesterday and the current price for 7 vials of Lubion is £56, and we have been paying £130 through the clinic. I just went into store and asked for the price at the Asda pharmacy.
Oh that’s interesting! This is why I wanted to check because the clinic hike prices up. Thanks for checking. I am wondering the reason behind wether you have pessaries or injection?xx
Hello I have pessaries as well but during my last cycle I had my progesterone levels tested and they were low that’s why o had the additional Lubion xx
I hope you get the answers you need. I had the blood tests day before transfer and started Lubion day of transfer but this time will be starting the Lubion earlier with the pessaries x
Could I ask what they did about needles, as they said it needs to be on the prescription but they couldn’t check if they had them as they didn’t know about the size? I don’t want to be in a situation where I can’t get them x
I got them through asda at the same time as long as they were on the prescription! It was 2 different size needles plus a syringe. They were cheap though.. However, one time asda couldn't get them and the clinic just gave me them for free!
Sorry to be a pest can you recall how much the needles and syringes were? At the moment for me to get two weeks supply it’s £100 cheaper through Asda inc the cost of prescription charge. If the needs are going to be closer to that I may as well let the clinic order my meds xx thank you
I can't remember exactly if I'm honest. I may have the cost at home still, I can check. But pretty sure it wouldn't come to £100.My clinic also didn't charge me the prescription cost in the end (£50). They said they would, but never did!
And as I said they did actually give me the needles for free when I asked!
Are you also getting some (pesssries and estrogen?) from the gp rather than buying at asda?
Thank you for this. Pessaries and estrogen is nhs funded so the clinic will sort that through the company they use and it will be delivered. It’s the additional tests and meds we are self funding. Hopefully if I get a positive I will need the Lubion into the pregnancy so it will defo be significantly cheaper for several weeks through Asda. This forum is great as I have learnt about that through here. I may need blood thinners which again is extra but that is dependent on my test results. I’m having some immunology tests as wel which may require steroids. Then if it doesn’t work this time we have some additional tests to have next time including the NK cells which again may mean extra meds xx
Definitely check out asda pharmacy. I've posted recently on another chat about asda. They sell at cost price so there is no benefit to them. Its a win win situation. I've shopped around and asda was the best.
The bigger stores are your best bet. They order in everyday so if they don't have the stock they will have it the next day hopefully.
You can call them up to check stock levels but they need the hard copy prescription to dispense. X
