Fyremadel injection - how and where?

Hi,

Looking for some advice, please.

I’m due to start fyremadel injections tomorrow morning, but not very clear on how to inject this. Some videos online show this to be done at 90 degree, while others at 45 degree angle? Do I understand that if there’s blood at injection, I need to start with the new syringe? And shall I inject it in the stomach or upper thigh?

Thank you!

Hi! I did my Fyremadel injections right around the belly button like to fingers away from it. You can imagine a U shape around your lower abdomen. When you inject take a big piece of skin and push hard. The needle is thicker and longer and you'll feel it. Inject at the speed you feel comfortable with. I did it at a 45°angle and as a tip when you inject keep the needle with that opening towards you( so you can see it) in that way the point part of the needle is the first to penetrate the skin.

Thank you lovely! And all the best to you x

I did mine in my tummy too. I wasn’t too worried about angle - just in and go! It’s probably one of the least painful injections. I have only ever had pre mixed so individual syringes so can’t help you on the other part of your query - sorry! Good luck x

Hi!

I had Fyremadel too. I had two needles one to make it up as it came as a powder to mix with solution and one to prick me. I had them for seven days and only bruised once but that was my fault not to do with the needle. I was similar to others just poke it in and go but I found a smooth plunge speed worked better.

My little tip was I had some of those little anti septic pre injection wipes that came with my Menopur - I put them in the fridge and used a cold wipe to clean and then after to sooth. I also found that you pinch your skin to push the needle in but once it was in a released the grip a little otherwise for me the liquid going in would sting a bit. Sometimes I would find that about 20 minutes after doing it there would be a small stinging feeling but it went within a couple of minutes.

I have to say I was a noisy about the needles but they were far far easier than the Coe and blood thinners I had to do after surgery last yr.

Good luck 💕

I also did it in the stomach, in a U under belly button like pp has already said. I did 45 degree angle. I felt this was much more painful than my other injections, but see others have a different experience, so probably very individual how you find it 😂😇 It stung and left me with a red circle at injection site for 20 min or so before it went away. But you just get on with it, was not that bad! It did bruise for me a few times, but I was told did not have to check for blood etc, so never needed to use another syringe. The ones I was sent came ready made.

Wishing you all the best and hoping for some lovely healthy eggs for you too!! 🤞🧡

Hi Sparklylife , thank you for the reply and your kind wishes 😘Checked with the nurse regarding the injection this morning, as I was getting very anxious and over thinking that i’ll do it wrong. Ended up doing it in the thigh, it did sting a bit and gave me a lump, but wasnt too bad. Will see how it goes!

ps congratulations on your beautiful baby boy 🥰

Thigh works well too! Glad you got advice and it was not too bad!

Thank you so much! I feel so blessed and grateful as I am aware this is such a difficult journey and ivf is no guarantee, we have been so lucky! .. but just so grateful it exists and for all the medical professionals! Wish there was a guarantee for us all 🧡
