Just had first scan for round 3 and it was disappointing…
I had a large cyst on one of my ovaries and only 4 follicles.
My numbers have reduced each time and the nurse seemed worried that this will continue to happen.
Our fertilisation rates have been good on round 1&2, I total 3 embryos have made it to day 5 (2 transferred on round 1 and 1 for round 2, none frozen).
So nervous as to what comes next but feel defeated already.
Any good news stories on low egg numbers but successful pregnancy?

Hi Turquoise. Oh dear that's not what you want to hear. Hopefully things will pick up a bit, but if it doesn't then best to leave this round, so you don't lose the funding. Once you get to egg collection your round is considered completed. On the lighter side, I have had a lady who ended up with just 2 embryos and just one survived and turned into an amazing son for them. Keeping everything crossed for you. Diane
Thank you so much. I will have to see how things play out next week…it seemed as though the nurse did not want to cancel as she was concerned over the eggs numbers reducing by half since last year 😔. Just have to hope I get that lucky 1…or more 🤞🏼🤞🏼💕💕
I know we hear it all the time but it really does only take one!My first cycle of IVF, I got 7 eggs but only 3 made it to day 5 and one of those is my son.
I then had a failed double FET earlier this year.
I have just finished a second fresh round and only 3 eggs collected. 2 made it to day 5 and I have just found out I’m pregnant! Only 4weeks 3 days.
We cannot help but get caught up with numbers but they really aren’t the be all and end all.
Thank you for sharing!! I am starting to try and see the positive side…it’s not the end. One of those follicles might be the start of my future baby ❤️
My last round I had only one follicle early on and it was really big. They wanted to cancel as they said it would become a cyst and I'd waste my funding, but I take a long time to respond and so pleaded to continue - eventually (17 days of stims...) I ended up with five eggs, including from the big one, all of them fertilised and made it to blasts. Everyone is different and it was a really tough decision as I was worried about wasting a round - and that's a very big thing to consider - but I was so fed up by that point just decided to go with my gut. I've just had my 12 week scan so it was the right gamble for me. I really hope it works out for you 🍀

I had very low follicle count between 3 and 5 per IVF cycle and only 1 or 2 eggs successfully retrieved each time. I am currently 6w4d pregnant after my first 5-day frozen embryo transfer. We had genetic testing on the embryo done and only one embryo from the three rounds was fully normal and that is the one that we implanted successfully. I have made significant lifestyle changes and also did a lot of relaxation meditation and acupuncture, as well as some work with a fertility coach. We have both made significant lifestyle changes this time too and only hope that it pays off and we didn’t start too late (around 3 months ago)! What changes did you make in terms of food? I actually stopped acupuncture (partly due to expense and partly due to the fact I didn’t find it all that relaxing). Thank you so much for sharing and giving me hope! Xxx
I start every day first thing with a huge glass of water with half a lemon or lime squeezed in and then eat primarily fruit in the morning - all types of fruit. Melons and watermelon are great for fertility and very alkaline, and I blend them up and love drinking them as a thick juice. I couple of times a week I will make organic celery juice which is also deeply cleansing. I eat a lot of veggies, focusing on zuchini, spinach and asparagus. I cut about 75% of my sugar and coffee intake. I also ordered some of the supplements from Fiona Boulton's website who is based in London. I found the black ginger and MSM sulphur amazing. I also drink a teaspoon with water or juice of Spirulina and/or barley grass juice powder a couple of times a week. I know it's a lot but it has worked for me. For deep relaxation, I listen to Michael Sealey on YouTube when I'm going to bed, and find it tremendous. Fiona Boulton also has some great free meditations on youtube as well (which she links to from her website). Good luck Turquoise2018!!! I didn’t have so much of an issue with egg numbers on round 1 and 2, but on our third round only 5 were retrieved, 3 fertilised, 1 made it to day 5. Was graded pretty low quality at the time as a 1BB. I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant from that transfer. It’s very easy to worry about what the numbers say but the pattern doesn’t always fit. Your story sounds so similar to mine. I had two fresh rounds resulting in a day 5 blastocyst transferred at each but with none to freeze and two BFNs. Both rounds I produced around 5 eggs. Then my first scan on round 3 showed three follicles and I was gutted. We carried on and after continuing stims for a lot longer than the previous rounds a few smaller follicles (which they hadn’t even seen!) grew and I ended up with six eggs, 3 fertilised and two implanted! I now feel so so blessed to have healthy twins. It was a rollercoaster but like you, my third round started less positively than my other rounds but ended up with good news 😊

Hi,1st round (short protocol - gonal+ cetrotide) i had 3 follicles and got only 1 to transfer.
2nd round ( long protocol - gonal+ luveris) i had again 3 follicles and 2 made it to day 5. We transfered 2 and at the moment i'm pregnant 5+5. Next week first UH.
14days after transfer was my hcg 1016 - I,m hopeful.
Between 1st and 2nd round i changed my eating totally.

I'm in a similar boat but doing my round 4. I usually get 15 to 18 follicles but it results in only 5 to 6 eggs because they all grow at different rates and some never get off the starting blocks and some follicles haven't contained eggs. This time they did a long down regulation on Yasmin and a nasal spray to try to get them all to grow at the same rate. My first scan of this round (Friday 15th) I had 5 follicles. I was very disappointed. I went for accupuncture the next day and the acupuncturist told me to stop thinking of it as ONLY 5 follicles and think of them as 5 PERFECT follicles. She even made me apologise to them and send them some love. She also pointed out that my body is putting all its energy into growing 5 follicles rather than spreading it out over 15 to 18. She told me a story about someone who had come to her for accupuncture with only one follicle but that that follicle had not only made an embryo but gone on to become twins! I am therefore being hopeful and praying that my 5 perfect follicles become 5 perfect embryos and at least one baby! I hope and pray yours goes well as well.
Haha!! Yes I totally get that…I was feeling bad that I’d almost dismissed the 4 little follicles that are growing and could be a future daughter/son. Today I can start to see these positives but yesterday I struggled. I will love these follicles and will apologise to them now 😊😊! Sending you all the best of luck for your lovely follicles too 🤞🏼Xxx
