Did you rest for 2 weeks after ET or returned to work? UK and Russian advise different

Success stories please. Did anyone go to work after embryo transfer. Google says I can drive myself to/from embryo transfer also continue my usual lifestyle. However Russian fertility doctors advise to spend 1st two days in bed, then take it easy for 2 weeks. I am starting new job on Monday 18th but my transfer is tomorrow. By then embryo would make its mind if it will or will not implant. I am thinking of going ahead with starting new job. Did anyone work after their embryo transfer and had pregnancy?

Hi Aliice,

I've always returned the day after an ET. I find it easier to distract myself than to focus on the worrying! Out of the 3, one was a positive although I don't think working had anything to do with it not working. Just try not to physically exert yourself. I also drove there and back from my clinic after too!

Good luck!

Hi there. In my experience I felt so exhausted after my fet (done twice) both successfully.

I had a rest for few days and took it very easy for next 5 days. No heavy lifting, cleaning ect. Just walk and rest. After that life as usual.

Good luck and try to stay away from stress.

Ps. Not sure if it's helps but I also did pineapple core for 5 days on the day of transfer and next 4 days . Every morning , on empty stomach. :)

What’s pineapple core if you don’t mind me asking?

Sure. Here is one of the millions video how to do it. For me was easier just one cube of pineapple mix with bit of warm water blend it drink it on empty stomach, first thing in the morning. For 5 days. So first will be on the day of your FET (morning, done it before I went to the clinic) and then same for next 4 days . Again- on empty stomach.

Ps in 2017 I did it and I had success. Now we have a miracle child. This year I did it again and currently pregnant with second one 🙂

PS2 I also did acupuncture. Once a week for a month before FET (some people do it 3 months in advance) plus on the day I had my transfer I did twice - 1-2 hour before transfer and straight after fet)

Can recommend good acupuncture clinic in London if you need 🙂

I’ve been advised to rest for 24h and then continue my usual routine and the embryo will stick within the first 24h. If it doesn’t, then he can’t survive further in the womb so basically, after 24h, it’s a done deal and whatever you do won’t change the outcome! Some studies even showed that exercise helps oxygen circulation and this is much needed for a successful implantation! In the end, I would just do what suits you and what makes you feel good. After my first I was back to work the next day and BAU, with my second I was back to work 2 days after and attended a wedding and traveled 4 days after!

I guess that is for a Day 5 transfer or FET but that it would be a bit different for a Day 3 transfer as the embryo is still hopefully becoming a blastocyst during that time?

Hi, after my egg transfer I went to work the next day only rested the day of transfer because I was off from work. I was positive with it. It helped me remove my mind from worrying, though I took it easy at work. And I continued working throughout my pregnancy. Wish you all the best. xx

Absolutely fine to go about normal business, just no heavy lifting or exercise. People don’t not go to work after having sex trying for a baby and it still works 😊

That being said mentally a few days off can really help and they say being more relaxed might help with implantation so whilst no physical need to use holidays you might want to consider it for mental well being. (Although work is a good distraction for the 2ww so if you do take time off make sure you fill it with other things 🤪) Good luck 🤗💕

Hi Aliice,

I had a ET on a Friday and I did rest during the weekend, but then on Monday I went back to work. I didn't want to stay at home thinking to much and worrying. The 2wwe went so quick and now I am 20weeks pregnant🤗

Good luck and take care!

Hi Allice1234, from personal experience and from other messages seen on this forum, the main thing that will impact on implantation is the chromosomes/ viability of the embryo(s).

I am currently almost 24 weeks pregnant snd although, I was off work, I spent most of my 2WW packing and getting ready for a move from London to Liverpool. I tried to take it easy but a move is a move.

I would say it is okay to resume work but only do things you feel comfortable doing mainly because you don’t want to end up blaming yourself if the outcome is not what you hoped.

I really hope and pray it is a positive. All the best 🙏🏾

Every article I've read said it's best to return to normal activity. That bed rest causes lower success rates. It's better to have something to do and keep your mind off of it. And going for walks gets blood flow to the uterus. The day after my FET I traveled across the world to get home. Probably walked 3 miles. I'm 6 weeks pregnant now.
