Unfortunately, my first ICSI got failed 😞. Due to low dosage of medications, they have retrieved 8 eggs, in that only 5 got matured and only 1 got fertilised😞.
They had checked upto day 6 but the embryo didn’t developed and has more fragmentation.
What is the reason for failed fertilisation?
Is it because of egg? Or sperm?
My husband has a poor sperm parameters, but I think egg plays a role upto fertilisation step. But I am in dilemma what’s the reason behind the failure of fertilisation? My clinic haven’t told the reason behind the failure😞 can anyone suggests me what should I do to improve for my next cycle.
We are thinking to go for surgical sperm retrieval for my next ICSI cycle.
Does it helps to get success?
Baby dust to all❤️

I'm sorry it failed Sahithya. I had a similar experience first time around. When I asked the clinic why, they just couldn't say. Sometimes the embryo looks good at Day 5 but doesn't continue that way and may actually be abnormal, so your body rejects the embryo. Or it can be that your womb wasn't thick enough for it. That's what they told me anyway. It's hard not having exact answers but I guess it's not an exact science. Will you try again? Good luck to you ❤️
Hi Sahithya, my 1st ICSI also failed, we had 6 eggs that fertilised and did well on day 3 so we thought we will have nice embryos to transfer and freeze but then it all went downhill and on day 5 we had just 1 blastocyst and it was very poor quality. They went ahead and transferred it but it did not implant. Noone knows why this happens. All you can do is to both you and your husband to quit drinking, take supplements, try eat healthly etc...make some changes to what you have done prior to cycle 1 and hope it works. All I can advise is that you should not do it again without changing something for the best (vitamins, diet, reduce alcohol) otherwise you will have the same results and will waste time amd health
male infertility is the factor for us but are able to have enough for Icsi. we managed to get 1 5day blast on out first round out of 10 collected eggs but it was very poor quality, we did the transfer and it didn’t work.
Second time on the same protocol we managed to make 2 top grade embryos, out of 9 eggs, we transferred one (I had a positive test yesterday so please don’t lose hope) and we have frozen one. I think sometimes it’s down to luck, which is really unhelpful x
Hi Sahithya. Oh I'm so so sorry to hear this. Perhaps a sperm DNA fragmentation test could help to select the best sperm? Or even IMSI if you have already had this done. I do have lists of questions I could email you in confidence, you might like to have a look through. If you PM me with your email address, I will send them to you if you want. Diane
We had low fertilisation on our second round. We have male factor issues too. Our clinic have recommended AOA for our next cycle, might be worth researching that to see if you think it is worth mentioning in your follow up appointment.
