Help with egg collection 😔

So we had egg Collection yesterday. All went well , sedation worked😊 9 eggs collected.🤭 was shocked. Never had so many, was delighted and in great forms🥳🥳

Phone call this morning from lab. Only five were mature.😫 thet discarded the other 4.

Then embryologist told me only 2 fertilised naturally and one was abnormal and they discarded that. 🤔 and they needed to wait and see on the other three eggs to see if they progress / fertilised. We paid for ICSI, so was like what do you mean naturally we request ICSI, embryologist then was like oh ya we did ICSI. 😬

Has this ever happened to anyone one that after ICSI clinic can't tell if eggs are fertilised after 24hrs ?

Super stressed and bitchy today. 🤣🤣

That's very unfortunate that you were made to feel like this. It does sound a little odd. However, there is no way in this day and age that they would lie to you like that and risk a day in court. I'm presuming by your name that you are cycling in Ireland. So you will be well aware that our clinics are not regulated here. However, I'd be shocked to think that they were being deceitful. When you go to your transfer, ask them again. Don't leave without being satisfied. It's possible that a different embryologist was making the call and didn't read your notes fully. I find that I have a different nurse every time I walk in the door. I hope your phonecall this morning was positive. Best of luck to you. And you're allowed to feel bitchy!

Its a bit unusual. It was hard to understand her. Yes from ireland and doing cycle s in ireland. We don't have any funding for fertility treatments here yet so paying privately for everything. Like most we don't have endless funds and have put huge money into having a baby💔 will be worth ever penny if we get our happy ending 💕💕Phone call this morning said a 2nd fertilised but poorer quality. Will see if they make it to day 5. 🤞xx

That's great news about the 2nd fertilisation! Yes, wasn't it Leo that promised some funding for cycles but no sign yet. I will be long finished before that comes in by the looks of it. We are about to embark on our 5th ICSI. We were blessed to have a baby from our first cycle 2 years ago. We are with a clinic in the west, without naming😉Keep the chin up. All it takes is one! I had eggs collected yesterday and the attrition rate is such a bummer! My embryologist called this morning and mentioned ICSI but I didn't think we were doing that! Of my mature eggs 1 didn't fertilise correctly and 1 didn't fertilise at all! So I guess there are lots of options! Wait now to see how many grow to day 5/6. One thing I would say about IVF there is way too much waiting!!!!
