I was feeling really positive this morning and had egg collection at 9.30am but by about 9.15 the panic set in. I almost fainted having the cannula put in as I’d worked myself up about it and ended up having 3 lots of top-up sedative as I was in so much pain. I could feel everything and I cried like a big girl until my sandwich arrived! 😢
The good news is that from 20 follicles we got 13 eggs which will be going in for ICSI this afternoon so fingers crossed for a good fertilisation rate. We also discovered that the OH’s swimmers have magically got more active and he got 34% type A (he had 0% type A only 3 months ago), which is a massive bonus!
Fingers crossed for good news from the embryologist tomorrow! 🤞😊
UPDATE: Just had the call from the embryologist and... of our 13 only 7 were mature and 5 have fertilised normally so we’ve just got to keep our fingers crossed and hope and pray that they make it to day 3 (Friday) and beyond 🙏🤞

That sounds like a horrible experience, but you got through it, and with good results. With any luck, you’ll have some to freeze and won’t have to go through egg retrieval for future cycles.
Thanks!! I’m keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for a couple of good ones spare to put in the freezer! Congratulations on your egg transfer and hope the 2ww flies by for you! Wishing you all the best xx
The worst part is over and you've done really well. Ive had 2 extremely traumatic egg collections. So bad that if this cycle doesnt work im not sure I can go through it again. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle xx
Oh no, that’s not good! It’s really hard when you have a low pain threshold - I don’t normally get period pains so anything abnormal down there knocks me for six. Was yours so traumatic due to mistakes at the clinic or sonethimg else? X
I have PCOS so I produce alot of folicles. I think it was mainly due to the amount of folicles as to why I was in so much pain. But they gave me too much medication and my heart rate slowed and blood pressure dropped. I cried in theatre and asked him to stop but he didnt (im glad he didnt but wasnt at the time) I cant describe the pain. They told my husband I would be 45 minutes but I was over 2 hours! That was mainly in recovery. It was awful x
Blimey, you poor thing! I’ve got PCO and found it hard so I feel for you with PCOS! It is really painful and they are up there searching for them all for ages and it really frigging hurts! How far along in your current cycle are you? Wishing you all the best xx
Oh it sure hurt! I had 33 follicles at the last scan 17 mature and 17 embryos. I am just 1dp5dt - long way to go yet! Im bavk at work tomorrow so that will keep me busy. Really hope you get great news tomorrow x
Well done! You did so well! I was awake throughout mine too and had a top up. It’s not easy being awake throughout EC so you should be proud of yourself xx
I’m feeling a lot better then I did after the tube flushing (literally couldn’t walk fir 2 days) but still a bit sore and tender so resting it off today. I’m surprised it’s not been worse to be honest! Glad to hear you are feeling your normal self again!
Just had the call - of our 13 only 7 were mature and 5 have fertilised normally so we’ve just got to keep our fingers crossed that they make it to day 3 (Friday) 🙏🤞
It’s a tense and uncertain time, keep your head filled with all those positive statistics and findings... it all sounds very promising! Good luck to you x
