I am so sad this morning. Has anyone experienced arrested embroyo?
We had a short protocol ivf and conventional method of fertilization that is no icsi. We got 5 eggs retrieved and 4 fertilized. On day 3, I was called that all of them arrested and stopped growing!
I don’t know what to do from here.
Is there possibility of it not happening again?
I really want to try again but I don’t even know.
I have had blighted ovum like 3 times between age 28 and 33. Does it mean I have genetically bad eggs?
I am 40 now, and I have been trying since the last pregnancy ended in miscarriage too.
Anyone who went on to have good embroyo that resulted in healthy pregnancy?

No advice I am afraid, but really sorry to hear this 💔 Hopefully your doctor can provide some recommendations for future rounds if you decide to continue. Look after yourself 💕
I’m so sorry, but it might be a relief to know that this is very common and normal. When looking at average embryo attrition rates, the largest drop off is at day 3. I had a 24 year old egg donor and only 2 of 8 eggs made it past day 3, so it is definitely not something wrong with you.
There are plenty of women on this forum who have been in a similar situation and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy in the future. It just really, really sucks that you have to go through it.
Has your partner had his sperm tested? From what I have read on here, sperm fragmentation is a large factor in embryo success. Also, I’ve read that plenty of women had increased success after reading and following the recommendations in a book called ‘it starts with the egg’.
Hang in there. I’m sorry this process is so bloody hard. x
Yes. He tested his sperm. Will have to review the reports now and discuss with my doctor.
Yes, I have read the book and I actually put in all this time around. Took all medications and tried as much as I could to eat clean. I am even afraid now that maybe the medications were too much 😅 if there is anything like that. A lot of questions in my head but it feels good to know that a lot of women have gone to have successful pregnancy. I guess I will have to try again! Thank you.
Oh, I’m o sorry. That must really, really suck! I don’t know what to say, other than sometimes you can just have a dud round, as shitty as it is. This does not mean you are out, though. The woman below is a great example. Sending you good wishes. x
Really really sorry to hear your outcome. I can somewhat relate to what you have just experienced. The only difference is that I had a couple of previous rounds of the embryos making it to day 5 and one dud round of all if my embryos not making it to day 5
Is this your first IVF cycle? I started IVF at 42 so it may not always be the quality of your eggs but like already advised, taking some supplements from the book it starts with the egg can be useful. Also, your review with your doctor should help with helping you better understand what went wrong.
After my unsuccessful round, I got a BFP and currently 16 weeks pregnant. I know I still have a long way to go but it goes to show that sometimes no two rounds are the same. and being over 40 does not mean you can’t get pregnant. You can read my previous posts for information. In the end, I did not change anything with my protocol. I just insisted on a day 3 transfer because I was not sure If any of my embryos would make it to day 5 much to my doctor’s irritation. One of the ones not transferred did make it to day 5 and that was for me a good sign at the time.
I really hope you get to the bottom of why your embryos arrested on day 3. I will have you in my thoughts and prayers 🙏🏾
A Congrats on your pregnancy. Pls hang in there.. we are all rooting for you!
No. This is my 5th cycle.. and the first time I am getting as many fertilized embroyos and I was hopeful. Yes, I am taking quite some medications, vegetables n lots of fruits and tried as much as possible to eat healthy… I guess I will have to try again and see what we can improve on this time.
Glad you have had previous rounds with fertilised eggs. That shows it can happen again! Just review what went wrong this time around with your doctor and perhaps make some slight changes to your next round depending on what the doctor tells you.
All the best and I will also be rooting for you. 🙏🏾🌈
