Iβve been popping back here and there since I had my daughter last year after four rounds of IVF.
We recently decided to start trying for no.2 with our two remaining Frosties. Had a transfer on 9th aug so Iβm currently 11dp5dt, had a good BFP at home and today was our beta blood test. Not the news we were hoping for, doctor called to say our numbers are low at 86 compared to my last pregnancy which was 956 when the beta was done slightly later at 13dp5dt. Sheβs booked me in for a repeat test on Monday morning but warned me to prepare myself it might not be a viable pregnancy.
Iβm devastated, felt like for once we were a first time lucky and now my bubble has well and truly burst. Iβm trying to stay positive for Monday but really struggling.
Has anyone had two pregnancies with such vastly different hcg levels?x
Hope this isnβt a trigger for anyone. I know we are so lucky to have one baby so sending you a big hug if this post upsets you xx

Hi lovely, welcome back πIβve not had 2 pregnancies but I do think that HCG levels are really varied. And just because itβs not as high as last time doesnβt mean it wonβt progress. Maybe a late implanter. Got everything crossed for you xxx
I've heard the number of HCG is irrelevant what is more important is if the number doubles within 48/72 hours. I had my HCG checked when I had my last miscarriage ( they couldn't see a pregnancy on scan) she said the first number wasn't important but wanted to see if level was increasing or decreasing, in my case it halved so it was a failing pregnancy. HCG can vastly vary between women. I've heard of ladies on here that had low HCG and one of the ladies went onto to have twins! Good luck with your next blood test hope it shows a good increase Xx
Thank you, thatβs really helpful! I didnβt think you could compare pregnancy to pregnancy but my doctor said itβs such a huge difference to last time itβs cause for concern so itβs really thrown me βΉοΈ
I did a weeks test 2 days ago which said 1-2 and this evening it says 2-3. I know they arenβt super reliable but hoping thatβs a good sign itβs going up ππ»
I'd say that is definitely a good sign - there is a huge threshold to those tests- between 153-2752 to get 2-3 weeks. With both of my chemical pregnancies first one only showed 1-2 weeks at 15 DPO then had cramps bleed heavily next day and my second chemical pregnancy only showed 1-2 weeks and went negative to 1-2 weeks and negative both never progressed. Bleeding heavily and cramping occurred straight after even tho I was on progesterone . The second one we both knew it was over. The first one caught us off guard as it was our first ever BFP. We were just excited to see a BFP after TTC 6 years. Regarding pregnancies can definitely feel very different- my symptoms with this pregnancy are much different to Francesca or Amelia. Not much breast pain no metal mouth and eating like a horse!
I hope you can find a way to distract yourselves and time doesn't drag too much. Right now you don't know for certain it isn't ok so I'd stay positive and hopeful- I try to take my pregnancy one day at a time ( even tho I'm 13 weeks pregnant after Amelia I know anything can happen) and no one knows what tomorrow may bring no one ever knows what is around the corner. Today is all that matters - today you've seen clearblue showing an increase of HCG without first urine at this early point so I'd say that is something to be positive about. With all my miscarriages and Amelia being "prepared " wouldn't have made the losses any better. Until you know it isn't ok enjoy each day and have nice cuddles with your little one Francesca is amazing at big bear cuddles π₯° always puts a smile on my face π
Wishing you the best and hope Monday can give you reassurance Xx
Thank you so much, definitely gave my little one an extra big squeeze at bedtime tonight π Luckily got a busy weekend so hoping that will help me not to sit and wallow xxx
Hold tight ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππππππππ hopefully itβll be double by Monday ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» id defo say every one is diff, sure it has to be, itβs a diff egg/sperm. Your clear blue have increased so letβs pray it all continues to do that ππ»ππ»ππ»ππππππππππππ
Hey! How are you? Donβt worry about the number itself, the first number doesnβt mean much! The important is that it doubles in 48-72 hours. I am surprised they told you to prepare yourself! Let us know how it goes on Monday! Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy π₯°
Oh lovely, I'm sorry! It really does piss all over your parade. We had this with our first pregnancy and I got told to expect the worst but happy to be proved wrong, also devastated.π₯ We did prove wrong with the numbers game which was a surprise to our clinic but we lost our little one but I think you may remember it was probably due to low progesterone. Really hope you prove your clinic wrong too!xxx
It's such a horrible feeling being in limbo waiting to find out.I was in a similar situation last year. I think my HCG was 89 at 12dpt. It was doubling but then slowed. Unfortunately, for me, it ended in miscarriage in week 6. I hope things work out differently for you. X
No advice for you but I want to send your some words of encouragement π 86 is not a bad number, hold on tight. I saw here so many ladies that had low HCG levels but their pregnancy progressed. If you haven't got any other bad signs don't lose your hopes. I am so glad you are trying for second one πβΊοΈ keeping everything crossed for you β€οΈ massive hug from me π€β€οΈ
My initial BHCG was at 69 at 11DP5DT. Currently at 15 weeks. My doctor told me it doesnβt matter what the initial beta level is, as long as itβs increasing by at least 60% every 48 hours.
Hey, with my first baby, my beta was at 37 at 10dp5dt, then it doubled as expected and sheβs now an energetic little munchkin. I agree with the posters that say itβs all about the doubling rate and not about the initial beta (some may implant a bit later cuz they are frosties), good luck!
Will keep my fingers crossed for you as Iβve had both good and bad outcomes to low betas. My successful one was only 70 at the same time as yours and only went up by 60% at at time by the time I was 6/7 weeks the clinic still questioned if it was viable as it was the lowest level possible butβ¦ the chunky baby is sitting next to me! The clinic said to me if we monitored every pregnant woman weβd find all sort of anomalyβs but we donβt so we have to go with the averages. Iβll hope for good news for you this week π€πΌπβ¦ sending love xx
Itβs good news!! 310 this morning, doctor is happy itβs more than doubling and looks normal. Iβm a very happy mess and so grateful for all your lovely messages β₯οΈ
Safe to say my initial calm has well and truly fucked off π€―π€ͺ but today I am still pregnant so focusing on that xxx
Dogs arse sounds great ππ»π€£ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» holding onto hope for ya until I hear back from ya on Tuesday β¦.. grow little one ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
