*Sensitive* 8dp5dt BFP but brown discharge

Hello ladies, I hope you're all doing well.

I had my 6th embryo transfer last week and tested yesterday (8dp5dt) and got a BPF. Obviously I was totally delighted but today (9dp5dt) I have had some light brown coloured discharge/blood(?) - only when I wiped though. I don't know if it's too late for an implantation bleed?

We had 2 x good graded embryos transferred and they were our last embryos in storage so alot of pressure on this cycle. Me and DH have been TTC for the past 6 years and in between I have been treated for breast cancer and since then have had 5 failed transfers (1 resulting in a chemical pregnancy).

Feeling really defalted again as I had light brownish discharge before my chemical pregnancy last year and am terrified the same thing is happening again.

I do have a blood test booked at the clinic for Friday to confirm HCG level etc but the wait until then is torture. I know there is nothing I can do now but wait but I just wondered if anyone had been through something similar and it was all fine in the end?

Any words of encouragement/experiences would be much appreciated.

Hi 👋🏼 I’m yet to have a successful transfer so can’t give you any advice really.. but just wanted to send you all my best wishes, you’ve been through so much! From what I’ve read spotting and discharge is very normal in the early stages. If I were you I’d keep hopeful, keep eating healthily and drinking plenty of water. Good luck lovely 🤞🏼✨ x x

Hi redrose. I would wait until you have your test on Friday, so that you know for sure. brown discharge is usually old blood, probably from an irritated c ervix - fingers crossed. Diane

Hi Diane, thank you very much for your reply. The spotting has been occuring throughout the day but only when wiping - it's a kind of light brown/pinky colour. I don't know if 9dp5dt is too late for implantation bleeding? Not sure how the cervix would be irritated as have been abstaining but hope it's down to this and nothing more sinister. Keeping everything crossed for Friday x

Hi. Have you been using any pessaries? Occasionally a urine infection can cause very light bleeding. Try drinking extra water, and see if that settles it. Diane

Hi Diane, thank you for your message. I have been using cyclogest pessaries but my clinic advised me to only use the back entrance which I prefer as it's less messy that way tbh. Sorry if TMI! Thanks - will up the water intake and see if it helps.

I’ve never been pregnant so can’t really give you any advice but I heard it is common to spot during the first trimester. When did you have your transfer? I had mine on the 3/8 and I’m too scared to test! I’m going to wait till OTT which is next week Tuesday 🥶

I just wanted to ask if you’ve had any hot flushes? Xxx

Hi Queenr, thanks very much for your reply. I had a 5 day blastocyst transfer with 2 embryos on 2/8. My OTD was 14th August but I caved and tested early on 8dp5dt. Totally understand why you would want to wait to test. Though I'm glad I tested when I did - if it does turn out to be another chemival pregnancy, the HPT may not have detected the pregnancy on 14th as the HCG could have left the body by then. Obviously I'm desperately hoping it's not another chemical as the last 6 years have been extremely tough to say the least and we used our last frozen embryos. I did feel the occasional hot flush but I think that could be the oestrogen - are you taking progynova? I am taking this 3 x day plus I have oestrogen patches. How are you feeling in general? Keeping everything crossed for you and hope it all works out xx

Thankyou for sending me such a detailed response! I think I might cave in and test tomorrow! Yeah I am on prognovya, but I got some yellow tinted mucus and I got worried 😦

I’ve been sobbing thinking about how it might be the end of the road for me!

IVF messes with your head so much. Good luck with testing - whenever you decide to do it. Keeping everything crossed for you. If you had a blastocyst transfer, then the HPTs can pick up HCG in the urine earlier than say if you had a day 3 embryo transfer. So I guess it also depends on the stage the embryo was at your transfer as to whether to test early or not. Yellow tinted mucus doesn't sound like anything to be worried about but it's so hard not to overthink any kind of symptom. Good luck!! xxx

Thank you hun! I might do a first response in the morning as it’s been 8 days since 5 day transfer (blastocyst). I’m just so nervous about it being negative that I can’t sleep 😴 My anxiety is really playing up. It’s so difficult 😣 ❤️❤️❤️

This is a good sign sounds like implantation I had implantation spotting for 5dp5dt till 9dp5dt.

Hi hope, thanks so much - this is really encouranging. I'm desperately hoping you are right. The spotting seems to have subsided and it's been more light pink/light brown last few hours. What day did you get your BFP? xx

Yes Iam 5 weeks today ❤🤞🏻These are good signs stay positive and relax the more you read into symptoms the more you start questioning yourself (easier said then done)

Congratulations on your BFP! It could indeed be implantation bleeding/old blood. I guess you will have a blood test Friday and one on Monday to check progress! Wishing you all the best! 🌷

Hello everyone, just by way of update. I had my bloodt test today and hcg was at 203! I was told by the nurse that this is a good result as it needs to be around 100 at this stage (i am at 4+2) so this is a huge relief. I know there is a long way to go yet but feeling happy for now. Fingers crossed for the next hurdle (heartbeat scan booked for the end of the month). Wish time would fast forward a bit. Love to you all xx
