Where to go from here

Hi all just looking for some advice. I live in Moray in Scotland and have had my 3 rounds of ivf with no success. We have no diagnosis just been told we have unexplained infertility. I'm struggling to come to terms with that and the not knowing what's wrong is really difficult. I asked our hospital if they would do any extra tests but was told they don't do them as they are unnecessary.

Is there anywhere I can go to have more testing done. I just want answers and no idea how to find them. I'm part of a Facebook group and they all seem to talk about so many different tests tests do and I feel like we haven't been given anything that might help us.

Hi Jemstone, I honestly could have written this myself today. I’m in the North of Scotland with 3 failed transfers from two cycles and unexplained infertility too. The not knowing and no one offering any help/suggestions is so frustrating. Like you, whenever I ask about further tests I’m told there isn’t enough evidence to support them and they don’t do them.Sorry I’m not much help at all but thank you so much for asking the question. 💛

HiSorry you haven’t been successful so far. Have you considered an online consultation with a private clinic? Or perhaps join some webinars for private clinics as they usually answer questions and you get a feel on their approach before paying for a consultation. They wouldn’t have to be local clinics that way.

Best of luck x

Are you looking to have some tests done in Scotland or you can come to England to have them done? I am not living in Scotland that is the reason for asking. In Oxford there is a fertility clinic that offers quite a lot of tests without you being their patient. Also if you want cheaper prices than better go abroad. As an example I had my ERA test done in Spain at a cost of 500€ and in England is min £1200.

Sorry to hear this. My NHS rounds were unsuccessful too (we only got two because they kept failing for the same reason). We got plenty of eggs but never made it to blastocyst. They said it was probably egg quality so we moved to donor eggs. Can I ask, did you get blastocysts to transfer but the transfers didn't work?

As someone else suggested, we went abroad for treatment as it was much cheaper.

I completely understand it is so frustrating. I’ve had 2 failed rounds with no blasts at all! Have been told it’s unexplained fertility. We’ve had quite a few tests privately including DNA fragmentation for my partner and have both had karyotype blood tests. All have come back within the “normal” range. It’s so frustrating not knowing why it’s not happening, I’d rather have a diagnosis so we can then deal with it and move forward. Our embryos make it to day 4 then stop progressing.

Have you managed to get any good embryos?
