Hi guys, had a 7week 5 day scan yesterday after a single frozen embryo transfer. We're in complete shock that thr embryo split and we're having twins! My brain has been on overload since looking into things and from what I've found twin pregnancies especially mono/mono can be very risky. A separating membrane couldn't be seen at the scan. I can see 2 yolk sacs tho. What does this mean? My head is fried!

Congratulations!! That’s so special. I don’t really know what each of the types of twins means tbh - do they share the same placenta or did they split in time to have their own sac and placenta? Wonderful news for you though 🍀🌈🌈🍀 xx
Twins sharing one placenta and being in the same sack can be considered high risk as one can take most of the nutrients and the other just a part of them, which will make him or her fall behind in development. Anyway doctors cannot tell whether is one or 2 placentas until 12 weeks scan and whether is posterior or antirior placenta. I am also pregnant with twins from 2 separate embryos. Mine are having 2 different placentas- one postirior and the other antirior. There is very small difference in their development - one is 2 days behind comparing with the other one. Try to stay calm, 2 little beans will be fine.
Congratulations 🎉
Amazing 🤩 congratulations 🥳
Congratulations! The highest risk is twins sharing a placenta and sac (mo/mo) then it’s separate sacs but shared placenta (mo/di) and then it’s separate sacs separate placentas (di/di)
The yolk sac is just there to provide nourishment to the developing baby until the placenta forms and attaches itself so the fact there is two seen just means there are 2 babies - they usually disappear by 12 weeks
It may be that they are mo/di but because you are so early the membrane just can’t be seen yet?
I have no advice but just wanted to say WOW! How special! Congratulations. ❤️
Omg what a lovely news,Dont worry my two friends they had twins and went really well. They told them same thing.
Double congratulations 😘😘😘
Congratulations on your twins! Hoping all goes well ❤️
Just wanted to say a massive congratulations on your twins! 🥳🎉
Sorry unable to answer definitely a wet your question about twins apart from saying although twins that share placentas can be higher risk, they can be fine. My mum had back to back twin boys that had a shared placenta.
Thanks everyone. I've booked a private scan for 2 weeks time so should more then. It's crazy, 3 years ago I had a miscarriage after years of looking into my infertility and having ivf, now we'll have 3 children in total! (Had a little girl just over 2 years ago via frozen transfer). Very thankful xx
