Hi ladies I have just found out I have a UTI. Been having symptoms for a week now and let the doctor know last week but only just getting treatment now! I am so upset as I know UTI in pregnancy is not good during the first trimester and I could have started antibiotics a long time ago. Has anyone ever been through this before abs what was the outcome. Thank you in advance
UTI 5 weeks and 1 day: Hi ladies I have... - Fertility Network UK
UTI 5 weeks and 1 day
I keep having UTI's in pregnancies and I have been told by GPs, fertility consultants and recurring miscarriage specialists that it is absolutely not connected to miscarriage or other issues. Apparently it's really common (particularly when women have had ivf procedures) and a lot of women won't even notice they have an infection and it usually clears up by itself. My consultant told me that they used to give women precautionary antibiotics with (F)ETs because of this reason but then found it unnecessary (no risk) and leading to other issues such as thrush. That said UTI can be nasty so I hope you feel better soon. Good luck!
Thank you so much I was panicking as I know it is quite common in pregnancy however I keep on seeing miscarriage everywhere. I lost my last baby due to infection at 18 weeks so quite paranoid.
I'm really sorry to hear that you had a miscarriage at 18 weeks. That must have been so difficult. Was the infection also connected to a UTI? I completely understand your worry. I have the same concern about UTIs so I'm always asking doctors about it and keep getting the same answer: don't worry. I assume you didn't develop a high temperature as that is usually something they mention to be weary off. I think I may buy some urine test strips so I can check at home- I found some on Amazon. Although the last time I was sure I had an infection and brought another sample to the doctor. But although it wasn't absolutely clean (some white blood cells) I didn't have an infection after all. I find it hard to work out especially as an early pregnancy symptom is having to go to the allllllll the time. The only thing we can do is keep drinking loads of water. Xxx
Yes hydration is key. Thank you for the information and reassurance. So when I had ,y miscarriage it was not linked to a UTI thank goodness. My waters broke early so they don’t know where it came from.
That must have been such a shock. I'm so sorry to hear that. For me pregnancy has become an absolutely terrifying experience. This forum and the experiences of other women is the only thing that keeps me relatively sane. Hang in there! Xxx
