Bittersweet moment BFP with OHSS

I have been in hospital since Saturday but we were meant to test on Friday but due to my OHSS they wanted to test me today. I asked if my Wife could be with me before we did the test and to only find out I am pregnant! I know it’s early days but we have never had a positive result before. Even though I am in hospital and in so much pain there is definitely light I can now see at the end of tunnel.

Thank you - I have mixed emotions but the nurses have been great here. We all were very teary.

Congratulations on the positive test!!! But I'm sorry to hear about your OHSS. OHSS is certainly no joke and can be painful and extremely uncomfortable..... I also had OHSS with my son and it was very debilitating. It was considered moderate. I was carefully monitored and had an overnight stay in hospital but mainly managed it at home. I'm afraid as the pregnancy progresses the OHSS symptoms can continue and can worsen a little BUT you can relieve them with protein, electrolyte drinks, salty foods also helped, keep hydrated and keep moving gently (even though moving is the last thing u want to do....it helps). It lasted for me until about week 9 ....for some people it goes quicker for some it lasts a little longer but I was just so overjoyed to be pregnant it's definitely a very awesome silver lining. Xxx

Lovemylion thank you and thank you for all your tips. It’s really hard to explain to people what this is like. I will keep a mental note to try to remain active, as I am normally an active person but like you said it is the last thing you feel like doing. I am not sure whether I will need time off work when I get out of hospital or if it will be something I can manage. What I do know OHSS is one of the worse pains I have experienced. But knowing I have a positive, has definitely given me that little bit more energy xxx

Take time off work hun. I was signed off sick until it got better. I just chilled out.....did very little walks, read books, watched a few series etc.....just look after yourself! However if work is easy going and you'll be supported then great! My work was stressful so I enjoyed the time off and went back when I was 9 weeks pregnant and felt much better. All the best for your pregnancy! Exciting time for you both! Xxx
