What does mixed growth mean in a urine sample
Usually it means sample contamination. If there is evidence of inflammation or symptoms of UTI you will usually be asked for a repeat sample to re-do it. Best to discuss with your healthcare provider whether you need another xx
Generally it could mean a UTI. Which is normal and manageable when caught early
It usually means that some bacteria from outside the urinary tract contaminated the sample. Usually a single bacterium is isolated in culture with a UTI (most commonly E. coli). If you have any symptoms and are pregnant you would need to be treated. If asymptomatic, you can request that you redo the urinalysis and be careful to try to get a clean sample.
