Please can you tell me why it was you were recommended to do ICSI rather than IVF?
On our last cycle, we were told IVF with ICSI backup depending on sperm quality. In the end they did IVF but our fertilisation rate and quality of embryo was poor.
This time I think I want to opt for ICSI specifically and see if that improves things for us.
Would be really interested to hear if anyone had better results from ICSI than IVF and why they did ICSI please.

The first time I did IVF, they said they were going to do ICSI because of my age, but when I had 19 eggs retrieved, they changed their mind and didn't do it. Only 1 egg fertilised. The second time I had 25 eggs retrieved and they did ICSI with 21 of them and all fertilised. I think it is mostly used where the sperm is poor quality, but in my case it was my eggs. Something to do with the shell being harder in mature eggs.
I had a positive outcome from ICSI so would recommend it.

We were told to do ICSI because my husbands morphology was slightly on the low side, so that’s the shapes
Hi we were done icsi on our 2nd round after first round resulted in zero fertilisation which they said was a result of the sperm and egg not being compatible (binding issues) We went from zero fertilisation to 100 percent ferilisation so i would recommend it xxx

Hi our successful round was ICSI and our unsuccessful fertilized on their own. For our ICSI round we had intercourse shortly before our retrieval day 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ so my husbands count was lower and that’s why they decided to do it. For whatever reason, that round produced higher quality embryos. I did however take lots of supplements and change my diet before that round as well. Best of luck xxx
We had ICSi based ont he fact my husband had a very low sperm count and the ones that were there were not progressive swimmers....but lazy! We got really good fertilisation rates in all of our cycles with my own rubbish eggs and donor eggs. We landed up having treatment abroad for the DE cycles and they actually do ICSI routinely for all cycles as they feel it takes the u known factor of whether the sperm will meet the egg. Of course even with ICSI and they put the sperm and egg together it doesnt mean all will defo fertilise. Definitley worth discussing with your clinic.xx
We had to use ICSI because they had to freeze my eggs, because my OH had problems producing sample on the day.
ICSI because of MFI. First time with standard IVF, 12 eggs and only one fertilised and limped its way to Day 3.
2nd time with ICSI, 100% fertilisation of 12 eggs and we had 4 blasts to show for it.

We had to revert to ICSI on the day of egg collection. My husband and I had both had covid the month before egg collection little did we know evidence is showing it has a huge impact on sperm quality. We had 8 eggs and six fertilised. ICSI does come with its own risks though because the needle can damage the egg so like everything with IVF it’s not a straightforward decision.
We did IVF the first time last November and 6 eggs were collected, none of them fertilised because the sperm was trying to get into the egg but couldn’t. We have unexplained infertility and had been trying for 4 years so at least now we know the reasons why. We were recommended ICSI the second round and I had 10 eggs, 7 fertilised and I had one popped back in and now 17 weeks pregnant 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Personally we know a few people who IVF hasn’t worked and they’ve gone and done ICSI and it’s been successful.
We had ICSI first cycle as the clinic offered it we got good fertilisation rates. The second round the clinic offered 50/50 ICSI and IVF. We got good fertilisation that route too. The ICSI blastos have always been higher graded, we used ivf blastos for transfer for the first time recently so we'll see how that goes!

They have done ICSI for us because my husband's morphology was on the low side and we are older. He managed to improve his morphology a lot with supplements and weight loss, but they still recommended ICSI just since it was successful last time in getting us a 100% embryo rate. It got us 100% embryo from mature eggs again this time, just waiting to see if we have any day 5s.

Thank you! Mine has been taking two. The first is "Conceptio Homme" (they are French) and they have selenium, coq10, 800 mg DHA, L-Carnitine, and Zinc (online here cocooncenter.co.uk/granions.... The second is Tetrafolic, with more zinc, vitamin B9, and maybe some other stuff (this is the one here nurilia.com/product/tetrafo.... They were prescribed by our doctor and changed his morphology from a 3 to a 13 in a year! (He also lost about 30 pounds in 18 months.)
We had poor fertilisation on our first round of IVF (only 3 out of 10 eggs fertilised). They said it looked like a sperm/egg binding issue (my husband's sperm was within normal parameters). We did IMSI (in fact) on our second round, and 13 out of 15 mature eggs fertilised, and 7 blastocysts. So a much better result.
No sperm issue but late 30's and 2 failed transfers in 2018
The clinic pushed really hard for icsi
Had a feeling it wasn't the right thing for us so decided to do half of the 10eggs batch icsi and the rest IVF ( so 5 icsi 5ivf)
Well well....
icsi: only 2 fertilised but both reached day 6 ( in storage)
IVF: 4 fertilised and only one reached day 5
Currently 33weeks pregnant with the IVF egg
