I had my transfer on Saturday 29th so currently I'm the 2ww. The transfer didn't quite go to plan as the embryo didn't come out of the catheter!
The embryologist checked the catheter under the microscope and it was still in there so they had to transfer again. It worked that time but now I'm really paranoid that it damaged the embryo or didn't come out in the right place. Has that ever happened to anyone else?

I haven’t quite had that, but I did have a transfer where they couldn’t get the contrast right on the ultrasound so couldn’t really see what they were doing
They then tried to show me where it was, all I could see was a tiny white spec moving fast across the screen
Easier said then done, I would say it wouldn’t have done any damage to the embryo, and the ultrasound would ensure that they have seen it put into your uterus.
They always check the catheter to make sure it has left there
I had exactly the same thing on my very first transfer. It was a fresh day 3 transfer and I was having two embryos transferred, the first one went in ok but when they checked the catheter after the second one it was still in there. So had to try again and it was transferred ok the second time. I was told that by being stuck it wouldn't damage or affect the embryo in anyway.
With my daughter it happened twice 🤣 third time she went in and is now a cheeky 2.5 year old and still as stubborn ! So should be fine x I think it’s uncommon for it to get stuck twice though as my consultant remembered it happening when I went In for this last transfer and that was 3 years later 🤣🤣
I had the same this week. I had 2 embryos transferred and 1 of them was still in the catheter when they checked it. I dont think theres any harm to them. Wishing you a positive result 🤞
I had a transfer today and when they went to check the catheter the doctor said "it's not uncommon for the embryo still to be in the catheter so we always check" - I had always thought that that was rare but the way she worded it made it seem like it isn't! Best of luck to you x.
Thank you. Yes I think it is quite common. Thinking back the doctors didn't seem surprised so must have been normal. Just gives me something to worry about in my 2ww 😂
