Positive to negative - devastated!

Hi all,

We received a positive result on out OTD and not believing it did tests on the following three days as I was having some bleeding but little and nothing like a period - lasted two days then some minor spotting.

Last night 9 days after OTD I was feeling anxious so we bought another pack of pregnancy tests both have come back negative.

Feeling numb! Any thoughts?

Have you had a fresh transfer from egg collection?! If so sometimes if you test too early it can still detect the trigger shot.

If not then it depends what test you were using, some of them the earlier you use the less reliable they are

It could also be an embryo that hasn’t made it but tbh you won’t really know the true result until your actual test day and then you need to use the first urine sample of the day as that will be the best one to use

This was a fresh IVF transfer. Positive test came on the official test day and the three days afterwards.

Rightio - I understand now. The only way you’ll confirm either way is what twiglet2 suggested and get your HCG bloods checked

If you’ve been bleeding they may do them at your local early pregnancy unit as they cater for ladies upto 16 weeks.

If not I’m sure your clinic will do them to see what’s going on

Hi I’m so so sorry to hear this, I had a similar experience a year or so ago I would call your clinic and ask them to do an HCG to confirm the situation. It’s heartbreaking to see a positive test and then a negative one 😢 I felt it was worse than the times with a straight negative. The only comfort I took from the situation was that I could actually get pregnant and it was likely an issue with the embryo that caused the pregnancy not to progress.... although it was a little while after before I started to see the positive in the situation as it’s really tough, sending you love 💕 xx

Hi lovely, sorry to hear about your stressful situation. Did you have a blood test done with your clinic? It is possible that you are experiencing the Hook Effect - avawomen.com/avaworld/false... another test with more diluted urine.
