Confused after today

So decided to jump straight back in and go for another cycle spoke to the consultant prior to this who added luveris to our meds for better quality eggs. Had egg collection today 7 eggs one less than our first round have just had a call to say that out of the seven only 2 are strong enough to continue how can this be? Last time I had 6 mature eggs and 4 fertilized 2 were implanted and 1 is frozen how can it be so different this time???

I am so sorry you are disappointed, it’s maddening but it’s nothing you have done. I had 6 rounds exactly the same meds. Best round was 13 eggs 9 fertilised - worst round was 6 eggs 2 fertilised.

Remember sometimes it’s quality not quantity. Great news you have one in the freezer hope you get more to add to that one. Heaps of luck xx

You must be so frustrated- I think clinics try things they see work for ‘similar’ people. So I was an ‘older’ patient when I started so they went straight to long protocol as ‘that worked for people like me’ but it was a disaster!! It’s a continual learning curve for them and you. I hope you get at least one cracking embryo and remember it only takes one! Masses of luck xx

Unfortunately it’s very much luck of the draw depending on what your ovaries and hormones are doing that month.I added Luveris on 2 cycles - first one I got 7 eggs 100% fertilised and 2 top quality blastocysts - second cycle 1 egg which didn’t make it past day 3

Oh wow really I just can’t get my head around adding a drug and it feels like it has done nothing and this cycle was far worse than the previous one. Thank you for your reply I guess I was too caught up in the emotions to think clearly and I know in my heart it depends on a lot of factors I just fee a bit gutted currently x

That sounds very disappointing. I’m on my first IVF cycle. It’s all very confusing I think.

Your not wrong there this is our second cycle but we done our first in feb this year. Due to age we decided to just go in quick I thought I knew what to expect this time but it threw me for a loop It is confusing but this site has helped us with finding out things x

I had a similar cycle with Luveris. It actually reduced the quality of my eggs!

That’s what I think has happened I’m absolutely gutted and quite angry the more I’ve thought about it

So sorry to read this Guinny, it’s heartbreaking after everything you go through to get to this stage, I haven’t got any advice I’m afraid but wanted to send you a message, allow yourself to feel what you need too, this journey can be so cruel, I hope you get some answers xx
