Heyyy Everyone! I had my FET on 1st April. I had my first failed IVF attempt in December 2020 with a fresh embryo so this is my first FET (5 day frozen embryo) I know they say to wait until the date they give you to do the pregnancy test, but has anyone tested early & if so how early did you start testing??

I tested early and I wouldn't recommend. You get obsessed with line progression and it made me incredibly anxious. I did get a faint BFP at 5dp5dt. Xx

That’s what I’m thinking, after 1st IVF failed we are trying not to think about it at all this time because we were very much in that IVF bubble the first time xx

Hi Cheer2020 , I have tested on different occasions when it has been both positive and negative. I always test the night before so I can prepare for the news when the nurse calls with blood results. One time I got a false-positive before I knew pregnyl was still in my system and actually believed it, the next time I got a negative and was so down, the final time u got a BFP within 15 seconds but was awake all night (literally) wondering whether I should let myself believe it. Long story short, in any circumstance it doesn't help but I understand why people do it xxxxxxxxx good luck 😘😘

Hello! As previous lady said, I would not recommend testing early. If you get a negative you will just stress yourself, you will be looking for reassurance that it can still change, that brings a lot of anxiety and negative feelings. Try to relax and enjoy these few days x it will be over before you know x I will you best of luck 🤞

Hey, I had my transfer the day before you on 31st. I’m aiming to hold out until atleast 9dpt or to OTD at 11dpt. No way I’m testing before then and I have made sure I have no tests in the house :) xxx

Hiya - I was very strict, I was told to test on the morning 10dpt, so that’s what I did. I didn’t buy any pregnancy tests until the afternoon of the 9th day to remove temptation.Anything before that would have been misleading and so wouldn’t have been useful to me. From what I’ve seen, people have less worry & questions if they sweat it out until their test day. Wishing you lots of luck. X

Hi, I'm the same as u as regards transfers. First failed fresh tranfer in December and had first fet on 31st of March. Finding it much harder to wait this time! 🤪

I honestly wouldn't tests: if it is positive you then want to check daily that the line is still there. .......more stress. If it is negative you begin looking for success stories of people who have had a negative that go onto a postitive......more stress. 1st round i did test got a positive but when i went for blood tests my hgc levels were not at the level they should be at. Had 2 weeks off back/forth for more blood and scans but was told it will likely not progress which it didn't and had a miacarrage at 7 weeks as it wasn't developing. 2nd time didn't test and was much more relaxed. It was successful and i now have a 5 month old :) all the best of luck. Xx

Hey. I tested like 4 days early and was positive from then on. Unfortunately ended in miscarriage at 13 weeks with my little boy... just waiting to do another round, 8 weeks post d&c atm.

Hi, I had my transfer on the 1st too, Good luck with you 2ww. In all my previous cycles I've never tested and will not this time. I would hate to get the wrong reading and then upset myself. Stay strong, the clinics must tell us a date to test for a reason eh. Take care and all the best xx

I’d agree, testing early sent me on a roller coaster of emotions, especially when you can see a faint second line and start obsessing over it !

Would you mind sharing the reason for the wait between your fresh and frozen?

I just had a frozen transfer on the 17th March that failed, waiting for my appointment with the consultant, but I’m keen to do the frozen as soon as they will let me. I was wondering if there is a reason you waited a few months? Thanks

I had to wait two periods between my last IVF and now, we did it as soon as we could :) xx

Ok thanks for the reply, that’s good to know before my consultation !

Hey transfer buddy!! I had Mine on April 1st too. How are you feeling?? I’m going to try and wait until it’s my day to test which is 12 days past transfer. What are your thoughts??

You’ll have to keep me updated on how things go. What have your symptoms been so far?? It’s only been three days but I’m super tired take naps during the day and some back pain nothing too wild.

Transfer buddies - I had my FET on the 1st too :) I've been torn whether or not to test early. I had a FET in February and I tested at 5dp5dt and got a paint positive. It got darker over a few days then started to fade and by official test day it was negative. I was gutted. I think I'll wait this time until the day before official day (Monday 12th) and test on the Sunday as it's the weekend and my husband is around and we can either celebrate or be sad together. Good luck - this is the worst part isn't it!! Xx

Aww good luck to you too!! Transfer twins! That’s what we think either the Sunday night or the Monday morning xx

Hello. Just thought I'd check how are you getting on? Have you tested yet? I did on Saturday in the end and it was negative. My official test day is today so also did a first response this morning and it's a big fat negative..... Gutted is an understatement. We had a perfect little embryo. We're going to take a break now for a few months and try again. we have 5 frosties left. I hope you had more luck than us 🙏🏻🙏🏻 xx

Hey! Oh no I’m so sorry! My official test date is tomorrow but we have done a test and it’s negative too 😞 horrible feeling. Like you say, I’m having a rest now, I’ve done two rounds of IVF pretty much back to back (with the required rest in between) and it’s just mentally draining 😞 so sorry for your BFN xxx

IVFmumma profile image
IVFmumma in reply to Cheer2020

Oh I'm so sorry to hear for you too - it is completely mentally draining isn't it :( Hopefully a rest and re-set is what is needed for us. I am going to be focusing on some house renovations to keep me busy and it's something at least I can control! We should be kind to ourselves this week - it's an indescribable feeling really, the negative after transfer, I feel like I've lost something I never really had. Trying to keep positive thoughts but also going to allow myself to accept and feel how much this sucks. Xxx good luck on your next steps 💐

Yeah it is really hard, it’s one of those things that people around you can say anything they want but it really doesn’t help :( I hope you take the time you need, I’m going to do the same, I start a new job in May so I’m going to focus on that now and try and recover physically and mentally. Good luck to you too xxx

Hi Cheer, I’ve also had my 5 day FET on the 1st of April. Seems like there is a few of us ladies who have transferred on the 1st. I’m trying not to test until my OTD on Saturday. Is your test date the same? I’m tempted, not going to lie but I managed not to test last time and I did feel better for it. Hope it all goes well for you! Xx

Cheer2020 profile image
Cheer2020 in reply to Londongirl84

Ohhh is your OTD Saturday? Mine is the following Tuesday the 13th, that’s interesting to know that if I was to test early it’s your actual date!! Thank you and you xx

Londongirl84 profile image
Londongirl84 in reply to Cheer2020

So one of my nurses said Monday but when I did the transfer the nurse said earliest I can test is from Saturday. If it’s a negative wait two days until Monday. So I’m going with the earlier test date. It also says it on my paperwork they gave me when I left. Suppose there is no harm testing on the Saturday, just have to be prepared it may be a negative and just to test again. X

Cheer2020 profile image
Cheer2020 in reply to Londongirl84

Yeah that’s a good idea! We’ve both prepared ourselves more for it to be negative this time after it was negative before in December. We haven’t got our hopes up this time and tried to stay really neutral and it has helped us a bit so I don’t think we would get obsessed about it if we tested earlier xx

Just do what feels right for you. Everyone is different. 💜

My test day was Mother’s Day so I did test early. I tested on the Friday so I called my clinic for advice. Mainly so I could stop the pessaries if it was definitely negative. The clinic told me it was very unlikely the result would change so I would say 2 days early would be ok.

My OTD was 14 days after transfer so day 12 would give you a true positive. I know different clinics give different days to test.

Good luck
