The doctors usually recommend to vaccinate before IVF .. they say the vaccination is less dangerous than to catch a covid. What is your opinion?

Vaccinate before IVF or not?
If you work in a high risk job (NHS or seeing customers) or you have a medical condition that puts you in the vulnerable category than yes it’s probably safer to have the jab. If you work from home and so does your partner and you don’t mix a lot with people you can wait. Have you asked your clinic for advice? Some clinics say do it, some say don’t.
The point is the vaccine hasn’t been tested on women going through fertility treatment (or pregnancy) and so they don’t know whether it’ll have any side effect.
It’s entirely your choice 😉
Good luck! X
I agree with tough cookie! The vaccine hasn’t been tested on women going through for Fertility treatment, nor pregnant women either- and for that reason it is advised that pregnant women to get the vaccine after they give birth. I personally don’t think you should get the vaccine but it depends on your situation and your health. I didn’t get it due to me having caught covid twice so think my body has got immunity from it. But I do and will plan to get the vaccine after pregnancy just because a family member of mine was in a coma with it and it initially protects you from being hospitalised. But just remember the vaccine doesn’t stop you from catching covid it just avoids you getting it BAD! Sending hugs I know it can be confusing what route to take but again talk to family members and your clinic. But health care providers will always provide the “safest” option. Do what your body thinks is right
Get the vaccine! i’ve had covid while being pregnant and it’s such a worry as I was very breathless and also having a fever isn’t good. If i could go back i would have preferred to have the vaccine than the actual virus, plenty of pregnant women have had the vaccine in other countries so you’ll be clear if you do get pregnant. The long term effects on a baby haven’t been found if you’ve had covid while pregnant so why not rule that out, oh and being pregnant in a pandemic is not nice when you’re worrying about getting the virus xx
I’d say get it. The risk of contracting it will only get higher as restrictions lift and your immunity is lowered in pregnancy, which makes you more vulnerable. There is no medical evidence that it causes problems during fertility treatment and the way the vaccine is produced makes no sense biologically to cause problems.
In America pregnant women are getting vaccinated. In the UK we are vaccinating woman who are high risk-and there has been no negative outcome proven as of yet.
But it needs to be a decision that sits comfortably with you ☺️☺️
Hi vicky. I have been taught that you should leave 7 days before starting IVF. Your decision, but I know I would definitely have the vaccine. Good luck! Diane
It is such a personal decision but the medical expert advice has changed that women getting fertility treatment should get the vaccine . Link to the FAQs for the British Fertility Society britishfertilitysociety.org...
I have also read the results of a clinical trial that some women fell pregnant after receiving the vaccine. I can’t find the link now but that reassured me at the time.
I have already received my first dose and I am planning to get my 2nd dose later this month about a week before I start stims.
All the best with your journey 💫
I would absolutely get it - as restrictions lift the virus will start circulating more, and I’d really like to avoid getting Covid while pregnant ... i know the vaccine hasn’t been tested on women undergoing fertility , and I wouldn’t have it mid-treatment, but if you haven’t started yet there’s absolutely no reason to think it would have an impact. in fact we’re due to start a fresh round hopefully in May and I’m trying to find out whether there’s any way of getting the vaccine before that (I’m under 40 so it’s technically not my turn yet).
Personal choice, obviously ! x
I would get it. I'm getting it as soon as baby is born in July. Its just like getting flu jab.
