We are awaiting our first appointment and I was just wondering what is the general experience with fertility acupuncture?? It seems to me every successful story I hear is because (maybe coincidence) they had acupuncture.
Also, if it is recommended... does anyone know of good ones near Liverpool or even Manchester?
Thanks in advance x

Two of my friends had acupuncture and they both had sucess on there first go, so i went to the same person they did and had my first appointment last week and it was actually really good, it doesnt hurt but you are awear the needles are in you, but it really relaxes you.
Annie8888 no hun im afraid im down in devon, but if you look on the net and type in your area and look at the comments as to what responces people have given im sure you would find a good one, or even speak to the hospital they would be able to recomend im sure. but i would definatly recommend it as my friend who recently got her bfp she said the lady who did her acuptuncture said im not suprised it has work as normally 90% of her clients call up to say they got a positive but she obviously couldnt say anything before as didnt want to give false hope, so i got myself booked in
Awww shame. I have had a look online, there's two that's anywhere close to me. And neither of them have any reviews and the photos look a bit dodgy haha. Like it's near a takeaway... so not sure. I'll keep looking.
Good luck, when do you start? We're at very early stages, just been approved last week. xx
oh i remember getting the go ahead it alls seems so long ago, as we had had to wait months and now i was due to start the injections yesterday but ive not had my bleed to be able to start. so frustrating. so they are going to have to put evrery thing back.
Ummm maybe? Is ICSI offered to everyone? We have unexplained infertility so not sure what we're going to have to do.
Oh really? Did it take ages? We've been told there's no waiting list. It literally took a week and half from being referred to being approved on Friday. Does it slow down after that? I try not to read too much about it as it can get you down.
How far back do you have to put it? Can you not just start immediately when your period starts?xx
No ICSI is the best one out there, it's went there is problems with either one of you or both, you will probably start with iui, yeah we have been waiting ages, there was a massive waiting list down here which was a bit of a mare!!
I'm not really sure what it's gunna happen as the are now going to have to move my egg collection day and it all depends if they have space for me on another day I will hopefully find out tomorrow what's going to happen xxx
Alright. Ours is unexplained infertility. Which is annoying the docs just kept saying you're young and keep trying. No she definitely said don't do IUI and go straight for IVF. So got approved last week and waiting for our first appointment. Hopefully won't be too long.
Good luck, hope it's not going to be too long. This process is stressful enough as it is without the wait.xx
Oh well that's brilliant that your going straight to ivf, yes your right this is such a stressful process, it's a lot harder than I first thought, well fingers crossed for you Hun xxx
Is it really? I was hoping its not going to be as bad as what's in my head I've been building myself up so much just total mood swings constantly and haven't even started the meds yet :/
I had acupuncture on my 2 rounds of iui and they didn't work. I didn't have it with my round of IVF and it did work. It is very expensive, my advice is don't pin all your hopes on IVF working because you've had acupuncture but if you want some to help you relax then go for it. Good luck XX
That's great that it worked for you. I haven't heard of too many people with IUI saying that it did work. Which is weird.
Yeah to be honest, you're right it is expensive and I was wondering is it worth the price. But you're right even if it doesn't work I will haveat least relaxed a bit. It's such a stressful time.xx
I had acupuncture through my first 2 cycles and had bfn's. I've stopped due to the expense but think it did help regulate my periods before I started my ivf and between cycles. Glad I did it as feel I have tried everything I can but going for a different approach this time and just trying to carry on as normal as possible. Xx
Hi Annie8888, just wanted to say that I had acupuncture during my first IVF cycle, which failed and didn't have it during my second IVF cycle, which was successful. I personally didn't find it relaxing or enjoyable, which probably didn't help. Didn't feel the acupuncture made much of an impact either way but if you think you'd enjoy then give it a go! Good luck 😀
Hi Allie, thanks for that. It's good to get a bit of mixed reviews and weight things up myself. Hopefully mu IVF nurse will be able to shine more light on it.
To be honest, I can't see how it would relax me just looking at the pics makes me feel tense. Fingers crossed anyway xx
Have you tried the British acupuncture council if you type in your postcode it will list all acredited people in your area once you have a list ring a few and you will soon get a vibe about weather that one is right for you, ive been going for acupuncture about once a month since July and due to start ivf with low ovarian reserve next march, I enjoy the acupuncture helps to relax me and I'm hoping it's doing some good xx
Hi nmill, that's great advise thank you. I just googled and a load of them actually came up that didn't during my google search. So fingers crossed!! xx
Hi I had 3 sessions before transfer and am currently on my 2WW awaiting my results this week so will let you know. I paid £50 a time but the lady advised me to join sovereign health or similar and I can claim 50% back so I've done that as I can also claim other stuff I didn't know about too. x
The ones local to me are cheaper (which worries me, are they any good!) but I did look into the health insurance to paying for it but not sure if you need to then commit for a year or so.
Good luck with your 2WW... how exciting/nerve wracking xx
Hi no I asked nurse and they didn't really seem interested in it. I got it done but my friends mum she was the only person I knew that did it but she only managed to get me in 3 times as she's so busy . I can use the health insurance for claiming other things like contact lenses so it's worth it for me to do it for a year but I'm not sure If I have to x
I've had Accupuncture for stress relief during IVF and it helped us ( me mainly from driving my hubby mad) so much, hormones can go off the scales and was very emotional 😭 at times where I cried over nothing but knew very well it was the drugs. So Accupuncture was our saviour, I was definitely going back for more and I did, after egg removal, to help relax uterus and a little stress and relaxation too but next time I'll return to have some Accupuncture to help retain the pregnancy. All still work in progress but done wonders till now so you can only try. Good luck! ✌️️❤️️🐣
Oh my god, I know exactly how you feel. I've only just had a letter from them that we've been accepted and its been so stressful already.
How was egg removal? I'm a little bit nervous about that and the injections.
Does acupuncture really relax you? I have been in contact with a few people just a shame no one is from around my area to give me recommendations and can't find reviews online.
Hello, Norma Rodgers at Liverpool acupuncture centre on Rodney street. I see her pre and post ovulation, and also a medical herbalist on Rodney street too. It does seem to have made my charts look a bit better, and I always feel more relaxed, I think it's worth a try, haven't got my IVF date yet but I'll be continuing it then too.xx
