FET Cycle Query - No Down Reg and prescribed Estradiol to start on first day of period

Hi I’m hoping someone can answer my queries, I had a FET cycle a couple of years ago that thankfully was successful and I am about to start another FET cycle but my clinic have changed the protocol they do so they no longer give you an injection to down reg and they have just scanned me 7 days prior to my period to check my lining and have prescribed me with Estradiol and have told me to start taking them on the first day of my period and that they will then get me in for a scan to check my lining 8-10 days later and then if all ok will book my transfer in the following week, the queries I have are will the Estradiol make my period shorter or will it stay the same? and secondly I feel to have a 5 day period and then build the lining up all within 8 days of the first day of my period isn’t much time at all is this timeframe normal? Xx

I have used this protocol many times although I usually start on day 2. It's so much easier on the body not having to down regulate. I normally have a scan on day 8 of meds (I usually have to adjust my meds but I have an awkward lining) and rescan around 5 days later then can start progesterone if all is ok. It's honestly so much better and quicker than not down regulating! Period tends to be a bit shorter for me.xxx

Sounds similar to the protocol I've done twice. You'll be on the estradiol for a while - don't recall it affecting my period - then they'll have a look at the lining and tell you when to start progesterone, considering when the transfer will be, but it won't be immediately after the scan. So I think at the scan they just want to see the lining heading in the right direction. Good luck!!

I’ve gone through this twice.... currently going through the same protocol. So I started Progynova on CD1, my period was shorter and lighter than usual. I had a scan CD11, and then started taking progesterone the evening of CD13. Transfer is today which is 5 (full + an evening) days later since I started taking the progesterone (and I carry on taking Progynova daily too). Xx

This was my protocol for all three FETs - if your lining isn’t thick enough within 8-10 days they’ll keep you on oestradiol for longer, they won’t rush it x

This is the current protocol I’m on at the moment too. Started Estradiol on CD1, I think it possibly made my period a little shorter, then I went back in to my clinic on CD 11 for a lining check but it was only measuring 5.6mm, so they’ve increased my dose and I’m back in tomorrow (CD 16) to see if it’s increased. Then they’ll plan to start progesterone and book transfer. Good luck with yours. X

Thank you everyone 😊 I’m glad to not be on so much medication this time round but was worried about the lining as I didn’t think it was much time to try and get thicker but they scanned me 8 days prior to my period and said it was nice and thick and there were three lines so I’m guessing they did that to see what it looks like usually.
