Anyone here can give me a success/unsuccessful stories on 1st round of IVF with low AMH, need to hear some to feel positive and to be ready for the worst
I am 36 and a low AMH’er(6.9), currently on 8th day of stimulation i.e. highest dose of Meriofert(6 powder).
AFC count on period day 5 was 11 in total, out of which 2 were cyst on each side and 1 wasn’t countable.
So ended up with 8.(is it good?)
I have a 2nd scan tomorrow(on 9th day of stimulation)
Really nervous 😬

Hey smaddie020 I can’t really give you a story either way but just came across your post and have also just done day 8 stims and in for another scan this morning ☺️ I only have 3 follicles so it’s been a bummer of a week and felt quite low after my scans but I’m trying to hold on to the fact they might be really strong good quality eggs in just those 3. I knew my numbers would be low because of my low AMH but I was still really shocked at how low. I’d be really happy if I had 8!! Wishing you lots of luck for you scan today and outcome 🍀🤞🏼xx
I am 34, during my second round my AMH was about 7 and I had only 7 follicles. I was also on Meriofert and 4 eggs were retrieved. I was really disappointed that I didn’t have more eggs, but the numbers are not everything as I got pregnant and still have 2 frozen blasts from that cycle. As a comparison, on my first round I was 33, my AMH was 12, 8 eggs were retrieved and had 1 unsuccessful blastocyst and nothing to freeze. Wishing you good luck ☘️🤞🏻☘️
Hi lovely, my advice from experience is to treat this round as an investigation into understanding how your body will respond to the meds, what your egg quality is like etc. It typically takes 3 rounds of IVF to get a successful outcome. Saying that I hope you are one of the lucky ones & this works for you.... 🤞🏻 My advice would be manage your expectations in your own mind. This journey is mentally really tough. Good luck with your scan, keep us posted! Xx
Just came back from my 2nd scan and I something unexpected happened, I was planned for EC on Wednesday but we are now going ahead on Monday 😬...
Below are the results of my scan:
Lining: 9.5 mm
I have 8 follicles in total, 2 of them are really small so they not counting that so have 6 to consider, they are all big in size and 3 of them are already more than 18mm and other 3 are still with good size in double digit which they expects to be at-least 18mm by Monday.
I think that sounds promising. I know its cliche but the quality over quantity thing is right. I have very low AMH and 40. Only had 7 follicles in one ovary during stimming and only 3 of them were big enough, one of the 3 was massive. They retrieved 3 eggs. All fertilised, 2 made it to 5 day blastocyst. One they put in me was the highest grade they have. And the other one has gone in the freezer and the quality wasn't far off perfect either. I'm 5 and a half weeks pregnant now. I personally think we all get too hung up on the numbers when you only need one.
I was 33 with an AMH of 2.1 when I started my first IVF cycle.
Had 3 follicles throughout my scans. 2 more follicles turned up on the last scan before egg collection.
Of my 5 follicles I had 4 eggs. Of 4 eggs all fertilised. I had a 3 day transfer of my top quality embryo and the other 3 were left to get to blastocyst. 2 embryos made it to blastocyst and are in the freezer and my transfer was successful and I'm sitting here with my miracle 2 week old son.
I know I was soooooo lucky to have a successful first cycle, but it can happen. Low number of follicles doesn't mean it won't work. You just need one good embryo to make miracles happen.
I however agree with comments above. Each cycle is a discovery. What works, what doesn't and how your body and your partners sperm is working together etc.
I wish you so much luck with your cycle. Sending you all the baby dust. Xx
Hi I had an AMH of 5.4 at 32. On egg collection at 33 they collected 6 eggs. 5 were mature, all fertilised with ICSI and all 5 made it to good blastocysts. Low numbers don't mean game over. Good luck!
I ate a lowish carb, high protein diet for 3 months before and took ubiquinol, extra vitamin d, fish oil, as well as the usual pre-pregnancy vitamins. No idea if it actually made a difference or just luck but on my first round I had 7 mature eggs and only one fertilised and on my second round all 5 mature eggs fertilised. Slightly lower numbers but far better success.
Update: clinic called, out of 5 eggs 4 were matured but 2 didn’t fertilised. 1 could fertilise by tomorrow. And 1 has successfully fertilised(she said it was very fast fertilisation and that they’ve not seen this fast - wondering is it good or not) and I might have day 3 transfer on Thursday.
Now I am wondering why they doing day 3 transfer and not day 5?
Good luck!! Just came across your post, I have really low AMH as well and starting stims next month! Number fertilised sounds great! Good luck fit transfer did they go with 3 or 5?
Hey smaddie020 I don’t know I can advise much on this as going in for my first transfer today. I’m having a day 2 transfer. Like you, I have been feeling a bit numb and worried about it because everything I’d read and understood was that you were aiming for day 5 blasto for best. It’s looking likely (waiting for update this morning) that we only have this one egg anyway from the cycle and my embryologist was very sure that being back in the natural environment is the best place for it to be, that they do this often and have success. He said the only reason they go to day 5 is if there are a lot of fertilised embryos and it’s purely about working out which is the best option to return because there is choice. It’s not an optimum time in terms of measuring success - if that makes sense? For people like us with less embabies, they know which is going back so just think it should be cooking away nicely in our toasty womb than a Petri dish! Like I say, I’m still coming to terms with it myself really and have tried to find some other posts on here about it and there are lots of people saying early transfer still results in a successful pregnancy / a baby. I’m going to try and hold on to that hope as much as possible and feel we have as good a chance as any for this to be a success ❤️ xx
Good luck with ur transfer hun ... yes, that’s what my embryologist said too that even though it has less cells than expected ur womb can give the environment our culture can’t
Hey. All went as well as could be I think. It was a 4 cell embryo as a Day 2 🐣They suggested that was a good thing? I’m still nervous about the day 2 transfer though! All we can do now is keeping everything crossed and hope for the best I guess. How are you feeling?xx
That’s really good embryo Nicola 4 cells on day 2... yes, everything crossed 🤞... I wasn’t feeling really great till yesterday but back to normal now ... keep me posted xx
