Is there anyone who did ivf at cambridge ivf? I asked the nurse what the ideal bmi is for egg retrieval is in their clinic and she said that they dont start treatment until bmi is less than 35.Today i went for my first covud swab and will start treatment today with bemfola, but my bmi was 34.6! Treatment is supposed to increase weight so will my egg retrieval be cancelled if treatment raises my bmi above 35?! So worried
Cambridge ivf: Is there anyone who did... - Fertility Network UK
Cambridge ivf
Are you sure she said 7? It’s a very unhealthy BMI!! Anything below 18.5 is underweight and considered dangerous...especially for fertility treatment!
Sorry typo i meant 35
Oh sorry i meant 35
I had a similar issue before starting IVF. Once you have reached their accepted baseline and you are accepted for IVF treatment I think you're fine. I have been at my clinic anyway. Obviously if there was a large weight increase once starting meds, it might be something they have an issue with but like I said, I wasn't even weighed before starting the second round and weight seems to fluftuateca few pounds here and there. Good luck!
Thank you so much. Thats a relief! I cant imagine it all being cancelled after coming so far. Its been really hard to even maintain this bmi with pcos. Been exercising and dieting a lot but weight doesnt seem to go too down. And esp with gyms closed during covid! Plz do keep ne in ur thoughts. Thanks again for the advice!
I hear you. Took my 3 years to get my bmi down to the acceptable range. I know the difficulties and pressure.Try not to worry.
I wasn't told a cutoff - they just said they want it 'normal' (which I inferred as <25) . I assume they didn't say <7 so was it <27? Did they not ask you what it was and/or check before you started treatment? In which case were they OK with it? I found I lost a bit of weight during my first cycle so you won't always put on weight. xx
Yes they said less than 35 before i started anything. They were ok with less than 35.
I'd be surprised if they were that strict that if it is eg 35.1 they would cancel, considering you are weighed with your clothes on. The only things I can suggest are to eat healthily, avoid salty food, and drink plenty of water. Good luck! xx
Thank you for the advice! That was very helpful
It can’t be a BMI of 7 - my clinic rules are ideally a BMI of less than 30. I have a BMI of 27 and not big at all - normal sized! I think technically a BMI of 18-25 is considered the healthiest range.
I think a BMI of 7 you’d possibly be dead. I am 5foot7 and if my BMI was 7 that would mean I weighed 3 and a half stone 😯.
