Period after failed transfer

Hello lovely ladies and gents 😊

I have a question about my period post transfer. I'm now almost into my third cycle. We had the transfer mid December and found out that we were unsuccessful Christmas day. My clinic said that we were to wait 3 more cycles before trying again which is absolutely fine. My periods before this were always 28 days. Some months 27, others 29 but never later than this.

I started my bleed on the 30th December after failed transfer which was about 43 days in total (I know that this cycle would have been longer due to hormones etc). My next cycle then lasted 38 days. I'm now waiting for my third period and currently on day 37. I really wanted my body to have "righted" itself before starting my next cycle and getting back onto the meds. The clinic don't seem to think it's too much of an issue. Has anyone else had this? I guess because I've always been so regular I just feel a bit odd about messing with my hormones again when I don't feel that they've managed to correct themselves from last time.

Any advice would be hugely welcomed. Thank you so much in advance ❤ xx

Wishing you the best of luck! Its funny isn't it. If it was pre treatment we would be adamant that we were pregnant. Now we just want our AF to hurry up so that we can get on with our next treatment cycle!

Was this a fresh or frozen? As I thought you could do back to back frozen?

It was a frozen cycle but medicated. I think different clinics seem to say different things. Would have loved to do back to back as the waiting is killing me lol x

Well in a turn of events that I never in my life saw coming, I peed on a stick and I am pregnant. Still in shock? Not sure how to feel? Totally overwhelmed at the moment.

Thank you 🤗 am feeling cautious but amazed my body has managed to do this by itself if that makes sense? Clearblue said 2-3 weeks since conception so I guess 4-5 weeks. Very very early days. I will book in for a viability scan in a few weeks as there's no way I'll be able to wait until 12 weeks to have a peek in there! Xx

That’s just amazing what our bodies can do when they really want to surprise us! I was reading your original post before I came across this comment, and wondering why you had to wait so long to start another cycle, but sounds like it was the biggest blessing! Enjoy it xx

I’m not surprised!! We have just had a failed cycle and are in that waiting period (pardon the pun) as we wait for my cycle to re-establish itself. I had a bleed during the two week wait so I don’t know if that was it or not 🤷🏽‍♀️ Good to hear stories like yours about it happening naturally although we’ve been told there’s only about a 1 percent chance of that happening so I’m not holding out too much hope.

Your story really made me smile though. Try to enjoy every second ☺️xx

Sorry to hear about your failed cycle. Its not easy this is it. So much time and effort goes into it so it's such a disappointment to see that bfn at the end of all those hormones etc. I really hope that your next round is successful and that you're doing ok emotionally.Thank you. Its very early but I think I'm just pleased to see that my body can actually do it! We tried for over 5 years then conceived my daughter via IVF. She was 2 in December. Have been trying another year and I've just never seen a positive test without ivf. I'm waffling now. Its just been an odd couple of days 😂

I really hope you're doing ok and everything is crossed for you 💗 xx

Thanks so much, it’s certainly an emotional rollercoaster and I was a bit naive going into all this.

I know what you mean. You get so used to seeing stark negatives, you never really believe any other result is possible!

I feel in a better place for my FET now. Just need to get the next couple of months out of the way & then we can try again.

Good luck. Really wish you a happy & healthy pregnancy xx
