Hi I’ve not been on here a while but found when I did my first fresh cycle I had so much support and questions answered. I really hope I can pop back in and say hi, I hope all the lady’s I got close with on here are ok and finally got there joy ❤️I’m on the journey again and would really like some advice. I had a frozen transfer a month ago but it failed unfortunately. I had a natural cycle but it wasn’t a very nice experience and now I’m questioning it. Do you need to take progesterone afterwords because had nothing at all and I can’t see how it would of worked without it?

Hey you! I got an alert youd posted. Lovely to see you. I’m not sure about progesterone, if it’s natural maybe it’s all the way? As ever I bet someone has advice for you! Big love x

Hello,

Im sorry your FET was unsuccessful.

i did a natural FET, but was given progesterone pessaries to take 5 days before transfer and for after. Its my clinics policy for all frozen or fresh transfers. But theoretically you shouldn’t need progesterone after as your body naturally produces progesterone in the 2ww (hence the 21 day bloods test to confirm ovulation, is actually testing the level of progesterone).

I actually insisted on my progesterone being tested on the day of transfer and it was 70 so well within range. You could discuss this with your clinic for the next FET as this would swiftly identify the need for progesterone top up or not.

Xxx

It is unusual to not have any progesterone. Most women have the Cyclogest pessaries at the least. I was on the pessaries plus progesterone injections, but I’ve had a history of chemical pregnancies. Have your clinic explained why no progesterone was given? It would be useful to have a blood test to check your progesterone levels to ascertain how much progesterone you would need. Good luck xxx

I had a natural frozen embryo transfer and they did not give me any medication or progesterone after - I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant and my recurrent miscarriage clinic told me to take progesterone ‘just incase’ which I started around week 7 I think but having none initially obviously didn’t affect anything! I think the idea of the natural transfer is that your basically working off of your natural cycle - which normally after you ovulate your body makes progesterone anyway? Have you ever had 21 day progesterone blood tests? Xx
