What the average and number of cycles?

Hi guys, I am super new here. Starting my ICSI IVF cycle first week of March. Iv read so may posts and can I just say this is such a supportive group and such an excellent platform! I regret not finding it earlier! I wanted to ask the general age of people here and the number of cycles they've had (of course I totally understand how this may be sensitive for most to talk about!) I apologize in advance, but my thoughts just kill me through the thinking of how much of a chance do I have! I am 29, generally athletic and active, no issues with hormones at all, very lucky to have a 28 day regular cycle. We'r having ICSI due to low sperm count and its through the NHS. Thank you in advance, I am soo happy I found this community, I feel like I can now talk to others going through the same thing! XX

Hi there welcome to the journey I joined hear about 6 months ago & found others stories have helped me get through , there is plenty of good information .

sounds like your off to a good start with your cycle & lifestyle ,

I am 36 & am currently on my second ivf cycle , also had icsi on both due to partners low sperm. But more recently diagnosed with endometriosis. So we both have fertility issues. With nhs .

Best of luck with your first cycle & just remember to take each day at a time. Xx

We had ICSI due to male factor issues. There were no fertility issues found with me. I was 35 and it took us 3 full rounds (3 egg collections and 3 transfers) to have our daughter. Ours was on NHS too. We live in an area that offers 3 full cycles so we're very lucky in that respect. Sending you lots of luck for your first cycle! 🤞 xx

👋 hello!

I was 32 when we started our first ivf-ICSI last year at a private clinic. We have male factor infertility, no issues identified on my side as far as we know. Our first round has been successful so far im 30 weeks pregnant.

What i will say though is not to compare yourself too much, i think one thing everyone would agree on is infertility is completely unpredictable and even people with the best odds and numbers can take a few rounds, and similarly, like us, we were diagnosed with the worst male factor infertility possible (azoospermia) and given extremely low odds of it being successful (less than 20%) despite us both being young And so far it has worked. I would often read the stories on here and sometimes feel like we had no chance as some people have had such a tough and difficult journey that were younger and with better sperm etc, i really felt the guilt when i got pregnant, as I almost felt I didn’t deserve it to happen so quickly first round when so many others are still suffering.

My advice would be to hope for the best and try to stay positive throughout the process. Although ivf is scary, its also an exciting time especially when you’ve waited so long to start!

Wishing you all the luck xxx

Hi! 👋🏻

I started my first cycle in December which was ICSI, I'm currently in my 2ww of my first frozen transfer. I'm 34.

Also on the NHS, but my funding has all been used up with the fresh cycle and this FET. Any future transfers of my remaining embryos will be self funded.

Good luck with your journey, all the people on this are lovely, and super helpful with any questions you might have xx

Age 35

- Had various smallish problems to sort:

-High prolactin (put on a drug to sort it)

-Mildish hypothyroidism (on

Levothyroxine so fine now)

-Had an investigative laparoscopy Jan 2019 - mild endo lasered off

- Partners sperm all fine apart from low morphology which they is why they opted for caution and asked if I wanted to do ICSI in case that was the reason (said yes - NHS round so wasn’t a cost factor involved)

- 26 weeks pregnant first go (started in august)

- was fully preparing for 3 rounds but very lucky

- 7 eggs retrieved, 6 suitable for fertilisation, 5 fertilised, 3 lasted to day 5 but only 2 were top - so one is due to be born in a few months and one is in the freezer 😀

Xx

Hey!

Exciting that you’re starting your first cycle next week... fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

I’m 30 and my first fresh cycle with ICSI was in November that sadly failed. We were lucky enough to collect 7 eggs, 100% fertilisation, 6 made it to blastocysts.

We did a FET in January but that also sadly failed. Second FET due to start in a couple of weeks. This time we are transferring two embryos so praying at least one of them sticks if not both 🤞🏻

No known fertility issues my side (though I’m not sure I’m convinced given both transfers have failed), we have male morphology issues which is why we went with ICSI.

I would say that everyone is different and reacts differently to treatment. Sometimes people are fortunate that their first transfer works, others need to go through two, three, four and sometimes more. Try not to compare yourself to others, as hard as that is to do. Just focus on you. Look after yourself lots during this journey.. lots of self-care.

Baby dust to you 🤍💫 xx

Hi! Welcome to the forum, I only joined this year and found it to be so supportive.I’m 28, started ivf in June. Had to be self funded as husband has a daughter from a previous relationship. We started clomid on nhs but after 3 cycles this failed and was waiting for a follow up appointment when covid hit so we decided to bite the bullet and go private. Our theory was we would have to pay anyway at some point...

I have PCOS so don’t ovulate every month but also when we went private found that husband had some issues too so clomid would never have worked for us... we did ICSI in July and did a fresh transfer which resulted in a chemical. We decided to go straight into a frozen cycle and now I’m 22 weeks pregnant!

Good luck! It’s a daunting experience but one that will make you realise how strong you are xx
