Following none of my eggs fertalising last Monday following egg collection i have a call booked with the doctor friday to go through everything.
Does anyone know how long they like to wait until the next cycle can start? I have read 4-6 weeks after a negative text following transfer but as we didnt get to that stage can we start sooner?!
If my body plays ball, i should start my period at the start of next week so would hope i can use this as my day 1 point again.
I had a cycle where we had nothing to transfer, so not quite the same as you....we had the eggs fertilise but they all died by day 5. Ours was NHS and they wanted 3 periods before attempting another cycle....I presume to let you ovaries recover from the trauma of egg collection. Due to waiting lists, I think we ended up having 5 months in between each cycle.xx
Thank you, I was a while ago now but yes it was heartbreaking. I don't think we are aware of all the hurdles that these little precious eggs need to get through. I completely understand the need to get cracking, having a plan is what kept me sane too! It may well be different in the private sector so hopefully you'll not have too much of a wait and the Dr can give you some reassurance tomorrow.xx
You can start straight away no problem. No need to wait. Especially if you are older. Waiting is just to manage patient/doctor calendar but your ovaries do not need a rest. There are even treatment cycles where stimulation is back to back called duo stim.
Hey! That sounds positive! Im just impatient and want to get going again ( just so im not moping around being sad it didnt work!) But i know i need to do whats best for my body.
When i speak to my doctor i will just say im prepared to go again. I didnt have a single side effect from any meds and no pain at all after egg collection so i am praying he just lets me go again!
Hi, I had the same situation back in November 2019 and they wanted 2 periods so I was due to start in the January of 2020 again so effectively would have started the next round on my second cycle following the failed one in November. If that makes sense 🤨
Hi Grace, I hope the call with the dr friday gives you answers and a clear way forward. On my last total fertilisation failure they was happy for me to go again when next period started as nothing to transfer, however I chose too enjoy Christmas and have a three month break even though time is against me x
Pretty sure you can start straight away. I just wanted to share that I started my first IVF cycle in Nov. Had a fresh transfer in Dec which was a BFN. I was so keen to get back on it again (clock is ticking/low AMH etc) that I started my second round after one cycle in Jan. I am currently in the TWW with one average 3 day embryo so not holding out a lot of hope. I just wanted to share that my second round was worse than my first. First round I had 4 eggs all fertilised and make it to day 3 and cycle 2 I only had 1. Now I don't know if it has any correlation but part of me wonders whether I would have been better off giving my body a longer break between cycles. I am on a high dosage of stims and I have low AMH so I wonder whether a 2-3 cycle break would have given me more time to recover. Obviously it is something I will never be able to confirm and it may just be luck, but I have decided to give myself a break before round 3 so I can recuperate both physically AND mentally!
I wish you all the luck for the your next round xx
Hello! Firstly fingers crossed for you in the TWW and sorry to hear your first cycle didnt work.
I guess its a catch 22 isnt it. Do you wait and risk your AMH potentially going down and that having an impact, or just go for it and hope it doesnt have an impact!
If the doctor says to me tomorrow that there is no impact on it working or not by starting straight away i think i will just go for it.
We got 7 eggs at retieval and none fertalised on day 1 so i almost feel it cant get too much worse ( that is me being a complete negative nancy!)
Thank you It is totally a catch 22. A crystal ball to tell the future would be nice🔮Good luck for tomorrow. Hopefully your doctor has some useful advice! I think it would be useful to know from your doctor what changes they can make to your protocol which may help fertilisation rates. If they are going to change your protocol then that is very exciting as it should hopefully mean a better outcome. In my case my protocol was identical so was hoping for similar results but it was much worse.
7 eggs is a great number so hopefully it bodes well for your next round xx
Hi all! Just a quick update, my doctor is happy for me ( and said it might be more beneficial) to start straight away! So as soon as my period starts we are taking that as day 1!
He has booked me in for a scam next week to see how my womb lining is looking away.
Also it looks like my eggs didnt mature enough the first time around which is why none fertalised. Only 4 of the 7 were mature, and these were only just mature.
Taking it as a positive as he has been able to make changes to medication etc so fingers crossed for round 2!
