Just wondering..?

So this cycle is my second transfer but a frozen one, why is it people say the first transfer (fresh) isn’t as successful as the others?

Don’t get me wrong it’s given me hope that this time round could potentially be our turn but can’t understand why it wouldn’t work the first time...?

Hi Libzy, Im not sure what it is exactly what you have heard but IVF only had around 30% chance of success so its a bit of a numbers game and luck. Some people do have success first time but basically the more its done then the cumulative success rates get better if that makes sense.....that's all that I can think people mean perhaps.xx

Hi Hun , both my fresh ET wernt successful my consultant said that some people just don’t do well with them. We had our son our first FET 4 years ago, and our second I’m 6 weeks 2 days . Good luck 😊x

I've read that the success is not based on fresh vs. frozen but is actually based on the proximity to the extraction process. Because fresh transfer is 1st you are usually within 5-10 from extraction which can be a traumatic event to your body. The uterus can be not fully healed, and therefore doesn't take as well. Frozen are at least a month or better after the extraction so you have time to heal if needed. Or as it's been described to me! Plenty of people have success with fresh. Good luck!

We had this discussion with the embryologist at our information meeting before starting IVF. There are a couple of potential reasons and even the experts don't know for sure 100%. One possibility we discussed with the embryologist is that if an embryo can make it to day 5 and then survive being frozen and thawed it is a toughie, a kind of 'survival of the fittest'. It is also possible that some ladies' bodies find the rigmarole of IVF too much and a frozen cycle is a little gentler on your body. I think it varies a bit by clinic whether their fresh or frozen is more successful - for ours the frozen is marginally more successful. xx

Thankyou for your reply! Trying to keep myself sane here 🤣🙈 my embryo was 5 days and survived the thaw perfectly apparently so fingers crossed xx

Exactly what I heard too. Apparently egg collection puts alot of pressure on your body, FET is less destructive. Xxx
