As far as I know there’s no data about the effect COVID has on the cycle from the results/success perspective. I think the biggest issue with it would be being unable to go for scans to the clinic and not being able to do the retrieval because they may not want any infected patients. So the real risk apart from the obvios is cycle cancelation.

Good luck with the cycle, I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Hi there we was in a similar situation to you in the fact that I could work from home but my husband couldnt. As we was nhs funded we was told that my husband had to self isolate too as if I tested positive (had to have hospital covid test 5 days before egg retrieval) my cycle would be cancelled and I would be be charged for repeat medication (assumed they meant full cost rather than prescription charges) as part of our funding pack we had to sign a covid statement basically stating that we would self isolate prior to egg retrieval and follow all covid guidance, think they have seen lots of cycles cancelled because people have tested positive and its having a big effect on extra costs so to the nhs so kind of understand their stance. They gave my husband a letter to explain he needs to self isolate due to a planned procedure but there is a template online too that you can use. If you are private may be different. He only got ssp sick pay whilst he was off but depends on you company policy you may be entitled to full pay. Do you have any annual leave entitlement left maybe you could use that?

It was only 2 weeks before the egg retrieval that we had to isolate so depending on whether she is on long or short protocol you may be ok if you have to work the next two weeks and she is only just starting her medication then you may be ok with the 14 day isolation prior to egg retrieval

Hope this helps

You need to speak to your hospital about this as it's really important you isolate too. When we had private, I was tested 3 days before egg collection. Had I tested positive my understanding is that I could not go in for the procedure. My partner had his test on the day of egg collection...

Your clinic should have a policy. You need to read it before making a decision. I'd say, in the current climate, you'd be daft to risk it. Can you speak to your employer?

Yup if either of you test positive the cycle will be cancelled. If there is anyway of taking time off id recommend it. If you can get to egg collection then worst case you can freeze all embryos. But anything before that it will all be wasted.

We isolated and had food delivers etc. I know its so hard especially with work, but this new strain is so transmissible even just going to the supermarket is a risk.

Hopefully you can come to an arrangement with work.

Maybe another option is to isolate from each other? You could then at least free eggs but the chances are reduced compared to embryos.

Wishing you both good luck on your cycle.

Thanks for the replays, am going to self isolate 2 weeks before egg retrieval as am self employed, an won’t get any payed if am off. Until then am going to get a COVID test everyday after work, because there free were we our and only take 30 min with result, We’re going to stay in separate rooms In the mean time and try an be as careful as We can be, Thanks for replays good luck on all your journeys x
