Will follicles grow/catch up?

Ladies just had my day 5 Scan. So 4 days of injections. Looks like I have 2 big follicles and 4/5 small ones at maybe 5mm or 6mm. Will they catch up? Or will the cycle be cancelled? I am a bit deflated. Please may I have your invaluable but honest opinions. Did my blood work this morning so nurse should call this afternoon to discuss if drugs need to be upped or cycle cancelled... I just turned 40 and can’t make any blastocysts on my previous cycles. Even though I am on DHEA this time, Melatonin and a host of supplements...throw a girl a bone please. Thank you

They might just be slow & will play catch up over the next few days. I had a similar situation on my last round with my follicles & they caught up. I was amazed to have 4 follicles reach the right size. Sadly 3 of the 4 eggs retrieved were immature. And the one mature egg failed to fertilise with ICSI. My results weren’t too surprising as I have DOR. The bloods will give you a better insight! All I did was hope for the best & planned for the worst. I like being prepared for all eventualities! Hopefully you won’t need a back up plan because your top quality egg is in one of the dominant follicles! Stay hopeful! Everything crossed for you! Xx

Day 5 is very early for your first scan, I dont normally have my first one until day 8 of stims.

Normally I have a good selection of reasonable sized follicles by day 8 but my last round I had 1 big follicle at 20mm and 2 at 8mm. They talked about cancelling my round but asked me back 2 days later... I was devastated... 2 days later I had 10 follicles ranging from 11mm to 24mm!

I was told on average they grow 2-3mm a day. So if you were to go to egg collection on say day 10 they could all have grown to at least 15mm which would be viable for collection. I personally wouldn't be panicking yet, its very early days. Good luck x

Thank you for your kindness. I am a bit down about this.... not sure why I know my age etc.. on baseline there were about 6 follicles. I just thought they would have all grown. But looks like only 2 are growing...

if its any help the round I mentioned I was 43 and ended up getting 9 eggs collected x

I had my day 5 scan yesterday and there were follicles ranging in sizes including 5 smaller ones. Therefore my consultant has upped my dose of Menopur to 375 to help them grow quicker... this may be the case for you. Im 40 too and this is my first cycle of IVF. I have another scan on Friday. Thank you! So kind. I am already on a 375 of FSH maybe they will up it 450? So sad to have to few follicles and small ones too! When do you think you will go for egg collection
