Hello Ladies. Another update from me. I had my 12 week NHS scan yesterday (I’m 13 weeks today). We also got our Harmony test result back (chromosomal abnormality test). Everything is looking as it should and it’s a little girl 💖
During my dark days before starting our IVF/ICSI journey I trawled the internet looking for success stories from ladies with very low AMH and when I found one it gave me so much hope. I hope this does the same for someone out there tonight.
For those of you who haven’t seen my posts before, in February 2019 I was told my AMH was 2.3. The first consultant we had the misfortune of meeting told us we would never conceive through IVF. Well, just 3 rounds later I have a 11 month old son and now hopefully a little daughter on the way 🤞🏻
I am not qualified to give advice but I will keep sharing my experience and what worked for us. We found a consultant who specialises is ladies with low AMH. A consultant who was full of confidence and encouragement. We also used low dose stims. The round which was unsuccessful we tired higher dose stims. My journey is detailed in all of my previous posts.
Ladies this journey is so tough, but please don’t give up.

Congratulations im in a similar position. Very low amh and 2 failed egg collection and only 1 egg frozen. At the end I became pregnant naturally. I'm 8 weeks now. Viability scan is still waiting for me. Really scared though. So happy for you!! Best wishes ❤️
So good to hear! 👏🙂 I have heard that the NHS offer the Combined test at the 12 week scan, which is 80-90% accurate, but harmony/panorama can be purchased privately for around £500 and are 100% accurate. Is that right? I'm a bit confused. So glad things have worked out well for you xx
The NHS combined test takes into account multiple parameters such as mother age, blood and scan results to give you a probability of having a baby with Down, Edwards or Patau’s syndromes (i.e - chance of 1 in 1000) . It’s accuracy varies and there is a higher chance of false negatives results for younger woman or higher chance of false positives for older mums. The Non-invasive pregnancy test (NIPT) such as Harmony is more accurate to detect the above 3 genetic syndromes based on sequencing baby’s DNA from your blood sample (>99%). There are multiple tests available and Harmony is just one of them, but you can do other ‘brands’ like Veracity which have the same accuracy rates. The price varies in private practices so worth comparing. For example, I have paid £300 for Veracity in August. With NIPTs, you also have an option to test other chromosomal abnormalities apart from the 3 syndromes mentioned above and of course you can also find out the sex chromosomes to determine if you’re expecting a boy or girl.
So in general NIPT is more accurate than Combined test to detect these 3 syndromes but the only way to have 100% accurate results is to do invasive amntiocentesis. Hope it helps 😃
Wow, thank you! That is super helpful. I didn't realise that the private tests sequence DNA, but the combined test doesn't. It sounds like a test such as Veracity would avoid the amniocentesis, which carries the miscarriage risk, and it would be a bonus to have other chromosomal abnormalities tested. I had no idea there were so many different brands available, so worth me shopping around for what's in my area. Thank you! Hope your journey is going well 💓 x
Just so it is clear, these blood tests don't test for all abnormalities, the reason you do so CVS/amnio is to test for *everything* (including micro deletions, e.g. autism spectrum and others issues) with a higher accuracy rate.
Most are only concerned about the big 3 that the blood tests look for - I think they all have the same options they are just different brands.
Typically you only go the invasive route if they find something on U/S or you are older/have known risk. Risk of MC of a *normal* fetus from invasive tests is close to nil if you have a skilled practioner who does these a lot (like 1 in 2000 MC rate). Most MCs happen when fetus is abnormal or the person performing isn't a specialist (i.e. OB rather than M/F specialist).
Thank you - that's reasurring. I'm thinking that this is going to be complicated for me as at my 7 & 8 week scans I had a second baby with a very faint hearbeat that had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I'm informed that the tests aren't possible with a 'vanishing' twin, but I'm not sure if it may be possible if it has disappeared all together by the 12 week scan (not really sure what the clearance period is).. Yeah CVS is out as it uses placenta and the 2nd one will be absorbed by the placenta. You'd have to check, but the blood tests may give you weird results, but they are so easy may be worth it and just know that if you get normal results likely they are accurate and take abnormal results with a pinch of salt.

Congratulations and happy new year! I was in the same position as you, low AMH and they said I had 5% chance of IVF working. If I have listened to them and my husband (betting man, very much into his odds) then I wouldn’t be sat here now 26 weeks carrying my little girl. I sometimes think you can’t rely on one factor (AMH score) to accurately judge Fertility and it puts people off who could be successful, at least us strong ladies know when we need to keep trying xx
Congratulations! Have spent the last hour going through your previous posts. They are so inspiring and give me so much hope for my journey which I will hopefully start this month. I also had a low Amh (0.9) and my OH has low motility and mobility for his sperm. Like you, we were given a 5% chance with IVf which made my OH very hesitant to even try. We are due to start when my next cycle starts. I will be on the short cycle (450 menopur). The nurse said this is their standard one. Fingers crossed but I would still want to have a backup in case I want to change clinic. Is your clinic based in London? Congrats again and thanks for sharing your journey.! Xx

My AMH was 2.1 in 2019 (when I was 32) and I didn't realise what that really meant till we started talking to people and reading posts on this site.
Me and hubby were so amazingly lucky to get pregnant first IVF cycle and I'm currently weeks with a kicking boy.
I totally agree with you. Don't give up. Low AMH means a low number of eggs not no eggs.
I hope in the coming years we will be lucky enough to give our boy a sibling, but I'm not nieve to think it will be as 'easy' as our first cycle. But just gotta keep going.

Congrats, that's wonderful. And its amazing and helpful to hear. I have one good embryo on ice from 4 rounds of ivf. I had v low amh (1.3 when first tested). I hope so much it will work but know the stats are against me and its 3 years ago i did the treatment. I plan to try it this year but tbh its terrifying going back to it. So really good to hear some people get lucky 😀
O this is wonderful news! Congratulations on your little boy and your little girl on the way! I'm also hoping for a sibling and this gives me some strength and a push to keep on trying as after my last round in november ended in MC I recently started to wonder if I should put myself through more IVF. Its exhausting. Xxx
