Going out of my mind. Brown spotting with BFP! 😕

I really need some advice. I'm so worried as I've just got my BFP (5 weeks) and I've just been to the toilet and seen a tiny amount of brown blood. It was a really tiny amount but as I've had cramps through my whole TWW I'm really worried its a bad sign. I feel so upset and I can't walk to anyone as nobody knows we're in the early stages of pregnancy.

Has anyone experienced this and got any positive stories? I'm a nervous wreck! xxx

Hey lovely.

Congratulations on your BFP 💕

Brown is usually old blood but I understand how it can make you worry. I had very slight mixed with pink on my pessary applicator around 7 weeks which made me panic so much but all was fine ☺️

Are you using pessaries at all? Xxx

Thank you so much for replying, I feel so much better from seeing a few replies. I'm so glad that it worked out OK for you.I am using pessaries, do you think it could be that? xx

Yes it definitely could be the pessaries as they do start to irritate a bit and when you think of the build up and what you then have to lose naturally it kind of makes sense - but believe me it did not make sense to me at the time 🤣 I was going out of my mind 🤯

If you’ve been on them since transfer that’s already about 7/8 weeks so that’s a lot of pessaries!

Hope you’re feeling better today lovely xxx

I've had this too! The stress and worry is relentless and to be honest even although you know it happens to others, it doesn't stop you worrying! However, it does help to know that it's not abnormal and definitley doesnt mean there is anything wrong. I posted about this too. Rest, take it easy and hopefully it'll settle down. Hugs.xxx

You're so right! I can't believe that I feel even more stressed now I've got a BFP. I'm just worried that my lining is so thin I can't afford to lose any of it!Have you felt more relaxed as the pregnancy has gone on?

You're always such a great support, thank you xx

Ive always said that, we want that BFP but when we do it causes more worry than before when we dsint get one. It's horrible to see any kind of blood but brown is old so hang onto that. I'd love to say I've felt more relaxed but there always seems to be something else to worry about. I'm not as bad as my early days but sadly I just dont think we get to enjoy our pregnancies like "normal" people do. However, will be all worth it at the end.xxx

Yes, been bleeding since week 6 and still today. Had my 7 week scan on wed and there was a baby there with a heart beat and another less developed one there too! Nurse could see I am bleeding from my lower endometrium and said bleeding and spotting happens to many women in early pregnancy. Still extremely anxious until my follow up scan next week. Upshot is that you shouldn't worry unless it becomes quite heavy. This is largely out of our hands. Hope all goes well!! Xx

Congratulations! That's lovely news ❤️.The whole thing is bonkers when you get pregnant through IVF, everthing seems so intense! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xxx

It's definitely old blood. Pink blood is new. Dark red is clotting. And yellowish is mixed with fluid. I don't think brown is anything to worry about. I'd be more concerned about pink or dark red. But even that could be normal. It's probably blood from implantation that took a while to come out.

I had bleeding from test day through to 9 weeks. Currently 22 weeks though so it doesn’t always mean the worst! phone your clinic as they should be able to do HCG bloods and then potentially in a week or so to do an early scan for you if have anymore bleeding. They may also want to increase your progesterone and if you are taking vaginally change to anal in case it’s that causing irritation. Try to get as much rest as you can too. It’s a scary time I know so I won’t tell you not to worry but reading others positive stories like you are doing defo helps 🤗 xxx

Thanks for sharing. So glad everthing has worked for you, it really helps to reduce my anxiety. Unfortunately our clinic don't do blood tests so I need to wait until 5/1/21 until the scan. I'm on extra lubion so hopefully my progesterone levels are OK 🤞 xx

Fingers crossed for you 🤗 my clinic doesn’t do blood tests normally either but did because I was bleeding and worried so might still be worth giving them a call just in case 🤞🏽 Xx

I had brown blood at around 6/7 weeks and it is old blood..just take it easy and rest...I even had several heavy bleeds. They never found out where it came from. Thankfully I have a little girl now.Dont worry I know easier said than done.

Give your early pregnancy centre a call for reassurance

Thank, I feel reassured by this. Congratulations on your little girl ❤️

Hello Pebbles345 , I completely understand your anxiety. I had terrible cramps and some light brown bleeding on test day which somewhat overshadowed my BFP but my clinic said it was completely normal and not to worry unless the blood changed to fresh pink. I had a 7 week scan and all was well and I’m now 9 weeks and on the anxious wait till my next scan. The NHS website lists spotting and cramps as a common symptom within the first trimester so try not to worry. I know how hard it is though. Wishing you all the best x

Thanks did sharing this. It sounds exactly how I feel! I expected to feel so happy when I saw the second line and now I'm just questioning everything like a crazy woman 🙄. Glad to hear that it's not just me!So happy that you're scan went well xxx

I had the same thing with my twin pregnancy. Spotted, even FULL on bleeding at times the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. I’m sending thoughts and prayers your way.
