I've stopped taking estrofem tablets and crinone gel 2 days ago after my failed ivf, now I'm having these terrible pains that seem like menstrual cramps but they are too severe. What could be the cause and how can I treat them cause pain killers aren't working?

I'm so sorry to hear you have terrible pain after your failed cycle. Infertility can be so cruel. If the pain is really bad I would call your clinic (out of hours) or 111 for medical advice. Taking artificial hormones will make your body respond very differently to hormone changes and your period. For some women the bleed after stopping meds will be very painful and heavy. For other like me the bleed is really light and hurts a lot less than normal (my normal periods are horrendous and do not respond to painkillers at all). The pain you're experiencing is probably completely normal but as I said if you're worried you should call. The only thing that helps me is a warm bath or shower and distraction (some stupid stuff on Netflix). Hope you feel better soon xxx
Hi Logger! Sorry to hear about your failed IVF, it's so hard 😓 I had pretty severe cramping after my 2 failed ones. I asked my doctor and she said unless the pain was unbearable, I shouldn't worry, it happens. You have been taking hormones to thicken you lining and support the pregnancy that unfortunately isn't there so everything has to come out now. Be strong, you'll feel better soon. Wishing you lots of luck in the future x
