Hi all, I know DHEA is linked with increasing egg quality when ovarian reserve is reduced. But has anyone taken it when they have had high AMH? I am PCO (AMH 41) but not PCOS and my androgens are not elevated so I'm just wondering if it's worth taking to improve egg quality all the same. I have been advised to do antagonist and a freeze all due to OHSS risk, and although I might get lucky and produce increased numbers follicles/eggs I think the quality will not be good enough (I'm 39). Thanks in advance for any info 🧡 I'm also hoping to pgt-a test.

DHEA on high AMH
I would definitely consult with your clinic before taking DHEA as it is pretty powerful. Everyone is individual in this regard. Really good luck. Everything crossed for you. Xxx
Hi thanks yes definitely not going to just take it without discussing with them first but just wondered if anyone in this situation had done so. 👍
DHEA will be transformed into testosterone. I know that people diagnosed with PCOS have high testosterone levels not sure if it is the case in PCO, but if you are saying that your androgens are not elevated then probably there is not harm in trying. I tried myself DHEA and apart from facial hair growth no other differences been noticed. What helped me was the right protocol.
Good luck with whatever you will decide.
Hi if you don’t mind me asking, what changes to your protocol helped? I’m going to do my 3rd cycle in 3-4 months so I’ve put all my supplements into place. But I have a poor response on the higher dose on my last cycle x
I perfectly understand you. I took one full year supplements but didn’t help me, we had only one blast that came back as “mosaic”. We tried again after that we ended up having 4 blasts and 3 PGS normal. I was on Meriofert 225iu and MPA pills (progesterone) that kept me from ovulating, my AMH is also good 35. I don’t have any issues, we are having male factor infertility. This is a protocol that not many clinics are using, I am having the treatment abroad. Just wanted to mention that my clinic uses this protocol for egg donors and is working really well and also worked for me. We transferred last month one embryo that implanted but unfortunately didn’t develop any further. Now we have to investigate why my body keeps rejecting the embryo after implanting.
If you have more questions please ask xx
That’s interesting as I was on lower dose meriofert for my first round and I had a better response than the high dose menopur. I have a low AMH but but husbands sperm is good.
I really wish you all the best with your next transfer.
What made you pick the clinic in Spain and not a private clinic in uk? X
First of all because is cheaper and also because the clinic is one of the best in Europe. They specialise in more complicated cases including autoimmune issues and egg donors. I don't think that we are also the easiest case so perfect match 😁. I like how they work, very professional and open minded. We had 2 cycles in UK but cannot be compared 🙄
No don’t take it - there is a reason why it is not readily available in the U.K. and it’s a hormone so can actually decrease your egg quality if you take it when you don’t need to
Thanks all for the advice/suggestions 🧡
