Hi all, I’m interested to hear about the pros and cons of normal ivf and natural/mild ivf. I have stage 4 endo, one tube and very low AMH (under 2.1) and have read a lot about how natural or mild is more suitable for those conditions. However I’ve seen a lot of success stories for women in same boat who have done normal ivf so keen to hear more about both. I’m trying to decide which to go for as currently have plan for natural x

It’s hard to know if you haven’t done any cycles before? I moved onto natural modified IVF because even though I had ok AMH (12.9) I did 2 cycles of short protocol and it was clear my egg quality was rubbish and when we PGS 2 blastocysts neither came back “normal”. So I knew that short protocol wasn’t working for me.
I got my best ever results with natural
Modified and am pregnant with twins with 2 more top quality blastocysts frozen.
Some people’s bodies can copy with high dose drugs forcing follicles to grow that they never would have done? Which is why some people with low AMH still get good results with normal IVF but for lots of people high dose equals poor quality
Whereas my doctor said to me no point forcing my body to perform like a Ferrari when it’s clearly more of a Ford! 🤣
Disadvantages of natural modified would be
- fewer follicles/eggs so was a gamble. I went forward to egg collection twice with just 2 follicles
- follicles can be slow to grow so I did have one abandoned cycle as hormones were out of whack
Positives
- super quick - over in 9 days or so
- no side effects from drugs
- cheaper
- can cycle back to back so can get multiple cycles done very quickly
It’s very interesting to hear about the nature cycle. Can I just ask how much cost difference there is? Is it the drug cost?
I’ve had two short cycles with very few eggs. I’ve got a low AMH. Thanks x

One cycle of short protocol IVF with ICSI, drugs, freezing, storage and then an FET cost over £10k
Compared to getting 3 cycles of natural modified IVF including ICSI and drugs, freezing, storage and a transfer all for £13.5k
I got 2 average blastocysts in that one round of short protocol and i got 4 top quality blastocysts from my natural modified
The cost difference with the drugs between short protocol and natural modified was probably about £1k, but it was the unexpected freeze all, so freezing, storage and then FET which really bumped the cost up compared to the natural modified package where all this was included
Hey 👋🏼 Just jumping on the band-wagon as I am getting the ball rolling on IVF at the moment and with a low AMH of 0.6, I am also wondering about mild/ natural IVF Vs. Comprehensive or traditional.
I don’t have Endo though - and I did read something where someone had a tougher time with lining on high stims, with Endo - Vs natural. Not sure if that’s a factor to take in to consideration.
Lulu 🤞🏼🌺
