Preparing for FET- Advice/Tips?

I bought the book it starts with the egg too late, as I hadn’t heard of it before I didn’t do any of its recommendations prior to our fresh transfer and I can’t find anything about a frozen transfer. The Fresh transfer has failed and we have one embaby in the freezer. We’re now waiting for space at our clinic to go back and start a FET cycle. Can anyone recommend any supplements I should be taking? I’m still taking the Pregnacare preconception but is there any other tips or advice? I have never done this before and I’m still feeling very down and upset following our first failure 😢

Hi Suzyanne-Faye. I can understand you still feeling a bit down after your frsh cycle failed, but your frozen embryo will soon be back inside you where he/she belongs. Make sure you take all your prescribed medication and stick to a sensible diet. My recommendations are as follows: Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. Cut right down or right out – alcohol and smoking. Oh and don’t forget the Folic Acid and Vitamin D! Hope this helps and all the best with the FET. Diane

Thanks Diane. This is everything I followed with my fresh transfer. I completely cut out caffeine though and alcohol for 3 months. I don’t think I can do much more it’s just hard to think it won’t work either! Thank you so much for your advise x

Aww bless you lovely, I am sorry your first round didnt work out. I found it extremely frustrating after my first cycle that I was not given any advice by my clinic about supplements and diet and lifestyle. After reading the book, and also following Zita West, I changed by diet, lifestyle and took some other supplements, it did improve things. I am going onto a FET next, do you have the second edition? I think its chapter 11 in there, if not, I am taking Vit e and L'arginine to thicken my lining, and will drink raspberry tea/beetroot juice and pomegranate juice when I start my meds

A lovely lady left some really good advice for me, see below:

800 Life extension vit E one month before FET - stop once you start progesterone (2 capsules)

8 caps of Life Extension L-Arginine (it’s a lot but I did it) start 1 month before and stop 3 days before transfer

3000iu vit D as my Vit D levels are pretty good but if yours are low she recommends 5000 short term - start now and carry on even after FET

Good prenatal with folate - start a month out

2-3 cups of raspberry tea from the start of estrogen and end 3 days before FET

One tablespoon of beetroot powder mixed with water per day (optional and it was so gross but I did it)

Acupuncture 2 x a week plus Chinese herbs (only if you have a good acupuncturist and believe in it).

I took it down a notch in terms of cardio workouts because there’s some research they affect the lining but stayed very active to keep the blood flow.

here is also a link in case you can’t find it in the book

best of luck xx

This is wonderful and I cannot thank you enough!!!!!! Such a great answer I’ll be looking into following this. I just hope my clinic can get me in soon. They keep saying they are so busy they may not get me in on my next cycle :-(

Hi lovely, I completely agree with the above advice but I would also say to not stress yourself out with trying to get everything in you every day. I did that for my last cycle and I truly think it was detrimental as I was so stressed. This time I’m eating healthily, taking my supplements but also allowing myself a day or two when I eat crap and have a glass of wine. It won’t do you any harm as long as it’s not all the time! Xx

I do wonder if being strict is detrimental when it comes to relaxing! I’m also a bit of a believer that if it’s going to work it will but there’s no harm helping it lol xx

Absolutely!! You still have to live your life and enjoy it. I did take all the supplements above but I also had plenty of alcohol (was one of those months with a few birthdays) and even had weed to relax (it’s legal where I live). I had five transfers in total and I’ve learned that you just can’t put everything on the line every time, you still have to live because who knows how long this journey is going to take and you don’t want to be continuously depriving yourself. My final transfer was successful (so far!) despite having alcohol and other stuff. Good luck!!
