FET on 28th day of cycle - go ahead or not?

Hi Ladies, hoping someone can help?!

I went for a follow up scan today and my lining ranged from 7.9mm to 8.2mm (triple pattern) best my lining has ever been- they even checked it 3 times as they couldnt believe it! However it seems a mistake was made by the clinic!

The embryologist came in and said that a decision on whether to proceed with my embryo transfer should of taken place on Saturday (10th) as I would of needed to start Cyclogest that same day ready for transfer (apparently the last day to make a decision for transfer is day 18 and I was already on day 19). It would of likely been cancelled as my lining was too thin at that point.

How the nurse didn’t pick this up on Saturday I have no idea, and I have asked them to speak to the Nurse when she is back tomorrow for an answer!

I got told today that I have missed the implantation window (as implantation usually occurs between cycle day 20-24) - so I would have needed to have the transfer latest this Thursday (day 24 of my cycle).

They have said I can go ahead with transfer on Monday (and start cyclogest tomorrow) if I wanted to, but the impression I get is it likely won’t work and up to me to accept the risk (as transfer day would be day 28 of my cycle).

I am on an artificial (medicated) cycle so I won’t have a period until I stop the meds. Does anyone have any advice or experience on whether it is worth going ahead with the transfer? Or any success stories of people getting pregnant with an 5 day blastocyst (4Bb) transferred on day 28 of your cycle.?

(I am so upset with my clinic for making this mistake) xx

Sorry that such a mistake has been made. I think by the sounds of it I wouldn’t risk it... unless you had a crazy number of embryos. Xx

We’ve only got 2 embryos left so I think we are going to cancel and not risk it.. thanks for your reply 💕 xx

With 2 embryos I wouldn't risk it, particularly as a 4BB is a good grading, so sorry to hear the clinic messed this up for you. The fact your lining got to a good thickness this cycle means it can do again. Good luck x

I’ve had a transfer on what is effectively day 24 of my medicated cycle. Medicated are completely different to normal cycles as the hormones basically take over your cycle. I’m not sure why the embryologist is giving advice about when the transfer should happen, that’s the doctors responsibility. I’m would definitely keep taking the medication and speak with a doctor or the nurse as you’ve said. And good luck!!!

I would cancel if I were you. I don't think it's worth risking. I'd be asking for a full refund from your clinic too! Which clinic is this if you don't mind me asking? I've had issues with mine too, makes it so hard to put your trust in them! Wishing you all the best x
