Sensitive - positive test - prednisolone question

So of all the ridiculous things, a month after our first surrogate transfer I’ve had a positive test. We weren’t tracking this cycle but the only day we had sex was cycle day 7?? I just had a hunch as i thought my period was arriving with cramping and brown spotting for days but it never quite arrived. I must be about 14 or 15dpo though making this test very faint.

Now having had recurrent early pregnancy loss and so many chemicals, I’m obviously the most guarded person ever. And not hopeful although I can’t help hoping a tiny bit. But we haven’t concieved in over 15 months so this is the first time in a while. But cramping has intensified this morning more like bad period.

I’ve messaged my clinic to ask if I should start any of the progesterone, prednisolone or clexane that I have at home. But are any clinics allowing prednisolone at the moment??? I’d happily self isolate if I could take it just to help our chances.

Do don't know about prednisolone but didn't want to read and run and wanted to say I am really hoping for you that this is it although I understand how hard it is to allow yourself that hope. Sending you lots of positive thoughts.xx

Thanks lovely, such heavy cramps it’s hard to know what to think. I’ve always cramped hard at the early stages of every pregnancy, like a constant buzz and cramp in there so I always assume I’m fighting off any little embryos that try. 🤦🏽‍♀️

My clinic still doesn’t reply

Hi Orla, what a curveball! I know quite a few clinics in the UK are still against prednisolone but I'm taking it and I've been taking it for a while. I havent had to self isolate or anything. I think it's worth a shot if you have it already! Will keep my fingers crossed for you!🤞🏻🤞🏻xxx

Thanks, but I’ve been here lots of times before! So I’m never hopeful.

But it has been 15 months since it last happened so at least I still have eggs in there 🤷🏽‍♀️

My clinic refused to prescribe me prednisolone. I was told just before it opened again that they would prescribe me a reduced dose of 10mg. After my egg collection when I asked for my prescription that’s when they then told me oh sorry we can’t prescribe it for you’ . Needless to say I was extremely unhappy !!!

Oh wow congratulations Orla. Sorry I can’t offer any advice as I’m a bit out of the loop regarding current treatment. But just wanted to say I’m so pleased for you. I totally understand your caution after everything you have experienced up to now. But it is definitely a good sign regarding your eggs and I’ll have everything crossed that this little one is a sticky one. Take care lovely xxx

My GP prescribed prednisone 10mg daily & 400mg x twice daily till I was 12 weeks during COVID19 ( - my fertility dr recommended I had it a few years ago. ) I shouldn’t advise you as I’m not medically trained but I would take some prednisone & progesterone to try to safe guard this pregnancy. I can’t imagine how you feel after so many chemical pregnancies but truly hope this is your turn you really deserve this ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻❤️❤️🌈🌈🌈 xxx

Thanks lovely, you’re right, I talked to a few people and we all agree with you - I started my utrogestan, prednisolone and clexane. I have enough to last a week and will have to try my GP and at a last resort scavenge leftovers! I think my mother in law actually has loads of prednisolone.

I spoke to my clinic and my miscarriage consultant and my usual consultant (who both recommend I should be on the prednisolone and clexane) aren’t available this week so reception said they can’t help - shocking!!

I’m going to try the miscarriage consultant at at Mary’s that I was under via my private clinic - she’s the head of the clinic and just does ad hoc work for my ivf clinic so I might get her that way x

Hi Orla

Im happy to read this and keep everything crossed for u!

I was on Prednisolone10mg in my pregnancy and I think it really helped in my case! I would take it if u have already at home! I started from the day of my stimulation shots and continued till 12weeks of pregnancy!

I keep u on my prayers honey! Xxx

Thanks lovely, I started prednisolone, clexane and progesterone! I’ll just have to ask around if I need more, and think I can get prednisolone from my mother in law. I’m massively disappointed in my clinic as it’s clearly on my file that natural pregnancies I’ve also been on all of that but they won’t cooperate?

I’ve had a really strong test this morning, but this afternoon I came home from work upset as I got my usual cramps and crazy heat down my legs that I’ve always had with my previous 4 miscarriages. So I think I’m out again 😢

Testing again tomorrow xx

It’s good that u reach all the medecine u need! The clinics are mostly odd! They did the same to me too once I concieved naturally!

Im sorry that u r going through all of it and have the cramps again ! Just remember that u r doing all u can and even if u lose or win , u r doing your best and nothing to regret about!

I pray for u with my whole heart!xxxxx
