Medicated vs natural FET? Which is more convenient?

I am hopefully starting with a frozen embryo transfer soon and I am trying to decide between a natural embryo transfer vs a medicated one. I ovulate normally and I haven't so far been negatively affected by the IVF drugs. I really just want to know what is more convenient. From what I understand, there are many more appointments for the natural cycle which I find quite hard as there is a lot of travel involved and time off work. However, it is a lot simpler and your body isn't going through as much pressure. Any advice?

I tried doing a natural FET. Unfortunately due to my recent miscarriage, the follicles were still not growing and I had to start taking shots again. Almost 4 scans and 4 blood tests in two weeks. Finally, the follicles started growing and I had to induce ovulation through ovitrelle. I had my transfer on 1st October. I take progesterone Cyclogest 1 per day. It turned out to be half natural and half medicated. If you ask me, medicated is better because you will know that your body works in a certain way. In natural cycle, because of the stress or the pressure we put ourselves thru, our body may not perform as we need.

Hi Ac. My thoughts are that as you have a regular cycle, perhaps a natural cycle with a FET might be the way to go. Obviously your specialist/embryologist want you pregnant too, so will give you good advice. Good luck! Diane

I had the same choice recently. We're going to try a natural fet but need to make sure all my hormone levels are where they would expect first. My doc said that medicated transfers can lead to more disappointment as your lining may not get thick enough but this shouldn't be an issue with a natural transfer. Can't comment on whether one's better than the other but sounds like I will need less appointments than for meditated. Wishing you lots of luck with whatever you choose x

Hey I was due to have a medicated FET last year but my body didn’t react to the meds so I went natural as I was also having regular periods and ovulating. I definitely preferred it natural.

I actually only had 2 scans and monitored my ovulation with OPKs. I did do a trigger this time which I hadn’t on my previous natural fets but this was purely out of choice as the previous 2 failed so I wanted to try something else. This is the transfer that worked....🥰

Good luck ☺️ xxx

I just had a natural FET and it was so much easier than a medicated FET! I had 2 scans and had to check for ovulation at home and then at my second scan they gave me a trigger shot and I transferred 7 days later. I have had 3 cancelled medicated FETs because my lining didn’t respond to medication and I had at least 4 scans for each, maybe 5. It is individual though and depends how your body responds xx
